The requirement includes, but is not limited to: fire protection; base motor pool; water craft maintenance facility; food services; laundry services; morale, welfare and recreation services; clothing issue; retail outlet; barber services; and postal services. The Coalition Provisional Authority Contracting Office has budgeted $148,117,005 to renovate Al Kasik Army Base, Phase I. In January 2004 it was announced that work would start soon on a $46.7 million project to renovate the Al Kasik Army Base for the Iraqi Armed Forces. Al Kasik is located in the northern part of Iraq, 50 kilometers north and west of downtown Mosul. The project is funded through the Project Management Office (PMO) of the Coalition Provisional Authority. The PMO manages the $18.4 billion appropriated by the U.S. Congress to support the reconstruction of Iraqi infrastructure. The Al Kasik project includes the renovation of existing buildings and infrastructureon the base and the construction of new facilities to support operations and training. Work was also performed on the water distribution, sanitary sewage, wastewater treatment, and electrical distribution systems at the base. Project includes clearing of debris; design and construct: storm water management system; three small arms ranges; parade ground; entire existing road network; perimeter security fence; design and restore existing: sanitary sewer system; water supply and distribution system; primary electrical power distribution system; street and motor pool lighting system; design and construct: two pre-engineered metal warehouse storage buildings; two pre-engineered metal barracks buildings; three pre-engineered metal dining facility buildings; packaged water treatment plant; packaged wastewater treatment plant; primary electrical power generation plant; installation ammunition storage facility.
