the swan cove murders Reviews
The Swan Cove Murders is a well written novella that blends great romance, sexual chemistry, suspense, and the paranormal into a great story.Lena Dixon is a psychic whose fiance, Earl was murdered a year prior. She's in a battle with Earl's brother, Nicholas, over the house Lena and Earl shared (previously belonging to Earl & Nicholas' parents), which Earl left to Lena. Nicholas wants it back but not necessarily for the right reasons. Nicholas Hunter has been in love with Lena since long before Earl beat him to the punch and said it to her first. Now, after she pulled the plug on Earl's life support and won't give up his family's home, he's had it in for her in the worst way. He knows full well that removing her from the home she shared with Earl will devastate her. He also can't help but make snide remarks about her so-called psychic ability. Little does Nicholas know that Lena's feelings for him match his feelings for her.Two days before the court hearing concerning the house, Earl finally manifests himself to Lena. His ghost tells her that his best friend, who was accused of murder him and four others, isn't the one who murdered him. There are also other murders that are taking place inside the town and Lena just may be on that killer's list. It's now up to Lena and a reluctant Nicholas to figure out what's going on - even if it means that Nicholas puts aside his skepticism and trusts in Lena - before the body count rises again. When the judge in the case involving the family decides that Nicholas and Lena must live together for 30 days prior to making his final decision in the case, things really start to get interesting. The pair are forced to come to terms with many issues and finally deal with the pent up aggression and romantic chemistry that each harbors toward the other. I really enjoyed this novella. There was enough back story for the reader to really figure out Lena, Nicholas, and their pasts involving each other and Earl. The chemistry between Nicholas and Lena, although unrecognized by one another, is there in full force and believable. The dialogue and actions/reactions between the characters are realistic. The entire story grips the reader and pulls you in with the promise that you won't be disappointed one bit in the story. I highly recommend you grab this novella - it's quick, edgy, and full of romance. Review Copy Courtesy Of: The Author, via the tour company, at no cost in exchange for an honest review.
If you love a fast paced novella, filled with passion, intrigue, suspense, and things that go bump in the night, then look no further. The Swan Cove Murders, written by Donna Shields, delivers what you are looking for and more. This compact, thriller will keep you captivated from start to finish. Ms. Shields has an obvious flare for creating a, sensual, entertaining plot that will keep you guessing, and well developed memorable characters. Clairvoyant, Lena Dixon, the feisty, tenacious heroine, refuses to back down from a challenge and is determined to honor the memory of her deceased fiancé, regardless of her rekindled feelings for his brother. Nicholas Hunter, knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to fight for it. That includes the house left to Lena in the will of his late brother, Earl. In this match of wits and wills, passion ignites and old wounds are reopened, as they battle over who will take possession of the Hunter’s ancestral home. But when messages from the spirit world raise suspicion that the serial killer who murdered Earl is not the man the police accused, they must join forces on both psychic and physical level to find the person responsible . . . before he strikes again.
There are so many elements I enjoy in a romance. When conflict is written well with touches of suspense, it keeps you turning the pages of a book like an addict wanting more. This book seems to have worked this formula well.Start with a woman, Lena, whose spouse, Earl, has just died. Add an ex, Nicholas, who happens to be the brother to the dead guy and who feels spited because Lena chose his brother over him. Thrown in complications with the will and a murder mystery and you have conflict by the bucket load.It was obvious Lena and Nicky cared about each other. But they spent so much time fighting. There were moments when I felt like locking the two of them up in a room so they can talk. I was glad when the judge ordered them to live together. It was only then that the two of them started getting romantic. Overall, this is an enjoyable read. The mystery is wrapped up neatly and we get to find out 'whodunit.' If you enjoy romantic suspense with a touch of the paranormal, then you'll enjoy this.
I enjoyed this book. It was a quick little novella that had alot of interesting topics in it. Who doesn't like a good murder, love triangle, ghost story???I liked the love triangle type feel the book had. It's always recipe for disaster when someone loves brothers. Does this work out for Lena? Earl was murdered and she is still living in the family home that would have been theirs together after they were married. Nicholas, Earl's brother wants the home that he feels should rightfully be his. He doesn't understand why he gets so mad at Lena. Could it be because he loves her? Lena is contacted by the ghost that killed Earl and gives her new information that may help make sense of what happened and why The Swan Cove Murders happened. Does this all work out for Lena and Nicholas in the end? Are the murders solved? Who was really resposible for the murders and why? You must read this quick novella to find out.
I really enjoyed the spiritual concept and twists in the story that made me keep turning the page. strong characters and a happy ending :-)
