I cant believe that we are nearing the end of the summer! The months have flown past and fall is right around the corner- I have been busy with work and all of the other things that occupy my life- I have been working on part two and also have started a new series- I love to write and put ideas to paper. It can be a consuming passion and after a few months off I simply must get back at it- I hope you have had a wonderful summer and took time to enjoy yourself! Received this from a blogger and it said it so perfectly- I absolutely love bloggers and all the amazing work they do!!When considering Indie books though, you have to consider all the crazy loads of work that must go into it. Not only does the author have to actually write the words, they also have to edit & design the book, figure out the logistics of self-publishing and do all of their own promoting. Just simply having an idea for the story is just the start! That's why i love Indie Authors, they work hard! That's why i want to help them promote themselves with IAM as well as year-around support on my blog here! ** I would also like to add that the Indie writers typically work full time and have families just like you do- its really a labor of love and creating a story is rewarding - Indie authors have little or no profit it's all about creating something-Peel back what we know as reality and there is an unseen world that is just waiting for you to enter. The way through the veil has been closed for many centuries but the terrors of war have unleashed great evil and the two worlds are merging. There are a chosen few who will walk the way of the dead and discover the secrets that are hidden deep within. Weapons of mass destruction are unleashed on society as world leaders face off to establish a one world government. Ivy & Jen are forewarned of the events to come and are hidden away in an underground bunker when chaos erupts. While they wait for word of when they are to come out of hiding, they explore the ancient caverns below the old house. They stumble upon the Book Of Prophesy they learn that they are to embark on a journey through the underworld to find the hidden location of the Tree Of Life that holds the secret of releasing the world from the evil that has overtaken it. In the process of finding the tree they discover the terrible secrets of the underworld. Nothing is as it seems, and they must find the answers or risk eternity on the Darkside; beyond the veil of humanity. One of the girls learns she has a powerful connection to this realm and faces the decision of embracing her humanity or accepting her rightful place in this world. “Every book, every volume you see here, has a soul. The soul of the person who wrote it and of those who read it and lived and dreamed with it. Every time a book changes hands, every time someone runs his eyes down its pages, its spirit grows and strengthens.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón, The Shadow of the Wind

Every now and then I read a book that catches me by surprise. Expecting a haunted house story, I instead discovered a tale about the human struggle to find our place in this world. This story is told from multiple points of view which makes it fun and easy to understand. The story centers around an old Victorian house in Olalla, on the Dark Passage of the Puget Sound.Bill has come to Olalla to look for inspiration about a book. He is drawn to an estate sale at an old house where, for reasons unknown to him, he feels compelled to buy it. It has a sense of familiarity to him. Before he can finish renovations, he has an accident. While in a coma he sees a woman in a tunnel beckoning to him.Desperate to escape the frequent, violent attacks of her abusive husband, Jen accepts an offer to rent the old house. The man from her dreams, the one she loves in this other reality, has given her to courage to take her life back. She senses something other-worldly about the house, but is unsure if it is evil or good. There is something or someone watching her.Strange forces have brought Bill and Jen together in their dreams. As their bond strengthens, they slowly come to understand what the old house is and what their place is in the coming events. There are many characters that have important roles in this story of darkness and light.Bill's cousin Lisa has been corrupted by something evil and commits unspeakable acts in her hunt for fortune. You will loathe her.David is ensnared by Lisa's manipulations and blindly follows her wishes, ignoring an inner voice that warns him not to.Jen's best friend Ivy gets drawn into the mystery of the house and discovers that she has an important part to play in the times ahead. She really endeared herself to me. Her guilt over the deaths of her brother and sister has led her to make all the wrong choices in men.Peter is Bill's friend since childhood and becomes his guardian while he is in a coma. He begins to get messages from Bill, but that can't be possible. Bill is still in a coma.John's life spins out of control after Jen leaves their marriage and, in his madness, dark forces take him over to use for their purposes.I could write so much more about this book but then I would be telling too much. Now that the stage has been set and I have come to know the characters, i am ready to dive into Guardians, the second book. Due to be released soon, you can read a little bit of it at the end of Dark Passages.I am now hooked and the author has reeled me in.

Paranormal is my favorite and finding something different than the usual vampire books has been a challenge. Loved the premise of this story, the romance rocked and the characters seemed real and drew me into the book. Ivy is a quirky girl, real and strong minded which is a nice change from the oh so perfect Bella. She has been around the block and yet has a vulnerable side to her. Good read and looking forward to the other books in the series. _ Brittani

I've always been a fan of paranormal romance and gothic type stories. This book is full of twists, secrets, ghosts, murders, some sexuality and keeps you guessing until the end. I found myself hoping that the characters would find their way and I felt their emotions... I could relate to how they felt and what they were facing... I thought about parts of the book after I finished reading it and wondered what would happen with the characters.

Well, another Indie author that is going places. This is an eerie book that has an intriguing romance unlike any I have read in a long time. The characters come to life on the pages and the story is interwover with clarity. Different POV's are used which made it easy to get inside each character's head. GREAT read, unique and I am really looking forward to the series. This Indie is better than most published books. Really.Isabelle :D

I read through all the reviews before purchasing this book. First off let me say this book is interactive- makes you think but I thought it was also an easy read. Those of us with some life experience will appreciate the depth and intensity. The characters Jump off the page and the content is varied. Since this is a paranormal/ thriller it is exactly what I expected and even more- what I look for in this type of book. Now to the nitty gritty. Characters were well developed and I was endeared to several of them. The romance was sweet and not over the top- realistic- adult relationships in that it was not teenage angst and rich boy marries poor girl/turned princess. The plot was so interwoven that I didn't know what to expect from chapter to chapter- I am difficult to please and don't like predictability or corny teenage angst. My husband also read this- he typically hates paranormal romance but he really likes this one. For a couple 40 somethings we loved it and look forward to the next books. Great start for a brand new author-

I was not expecting a good read but it was free so thought I would try it. Scary parts, funny, sad... characters were well developed. It is better developed than the major published books (characters seem real) and the story line is alive (many major best sellers are flat). There is some very minor formating issues on the Kindle but I just bought a Koontz and it had the same issues. I gave it 5 stars because it has heart, great story line and the characters jump off the pages. It was a very good book and I am looking forward to the next books.

This was an amazing book....very interesting and a little emotional. This is the first book I have read of M.L. Woolley and what a start. DARK PASSAGE is well written, with characters that come alive and jump off the pages. It is filled with mystery and romance, with twist and turns that will keep the pages turning. What more can a reader ask for, this is a book I would read again and again.I recieved this book from M.L. Woolley, thank-you so much no reader could praise this book enough.

This is a fast paced page turned. Edge of your seat and no yawning. Characters are so well developed that I felt like I knew them personally. Their stories seem so real they feel like friends. I don't want to spoil it but suffice to say this is one that you pull out to read again. Rebecca is another I have that I read again every couple of years. I'll be buying the paperback of this one.

I was surprised by how much I really liked the book. Paranormal story unlike any I have read in a long while. Not your typical good girl seduced by a vampire story. The characters are strong but vulnerable and flawed. Yes, flawed. Surprising that anyone would relate to flawed I thought at first too. I found myself relating more than I anticipated and was drawn into the story. Be prepared to stay up late as it's a page turner.

I was taken by surprise by this one. It has many elements, twists and turns. After reading it I found myself thinking about it and going through the story in my mind. It is one of those books you could read many times and discover something new. It is a book that older people will love as it explores so many issues- some I have experienced and i was deeply moved throughout the book.

Just finished Dark Passage and really enjoyed this paranormal storyline filled with plenty of mystery, intrigue, and eeriness. The author did a great job of storytelling by using the POV of several of the characters. Yes, this book is also scary with evil and hideous creatures; can't wait for the next book in the series!

Really gripping, I started reading it last evening and didn't go to bed until finishing it in the morning, it was really that good! Highly recommended and plan on buying every new book in the series as it comes out-

I was given a free ebook from the author. I enjoy paranormal and especially ghosts so downloaded it. Well, I was reading the first 16 chapters and had to get up at 5 am for work. With a few hours of work and after a 10 hour shift I was back home to finish the book. The characters were not innocent young girls on their first date. They reached out to me in so many ways. I don't want to spoil it for you but I cried in several parts and found myself hoping that everyone would somehow find their way. When I finished the book I found myself wondering what was next for Jen and Ivy. I don't often think about a book after I put it down but it's one of those books that leaves you wanting more.

Well, the .99 price hooked me but I would have paid 9.99 after reading the book. For those of you who want to be drawn into a story of young adults who are past the high school phase this is a great book! Characters are well developed and I had a sense that I knew them and was a part of their lives. There are a few secondary characters that I would love to see in the next books. The problems Jen & Ivy face are real life dilemmas and the twists are very unexpected. Original story and you won't see Bella remade here. Fresh, original characters and an entralling story. Book 2 is on my list for my next "to read".

Dark Passage (Dark Passage: Chosen) by M.L. Woolley was an amazing book. I really couldn't put it down! I cannot wait for the second book to come out as this one was so well written. This book has some romance, paranormal with mystery and it was very unique. I just kept wanting to "read one more chapter", before I knew it I was done! This is one that I think I will read over and over again. There is so much to the characters and story that I would just enjoy it no matter how many times I read it. I would recommend this for YA and Adults alike. I even have told some friends already about this one, that's how much I liked it.

I was recommended a copy from a group on Goodreads. Being it was free I went ahead and downloaded it. THIS BOOK is better than most of the ones getting huge fanfare from their publishers. I always go for the million dollar cover and am disappointed most of the time. This story grabbed me right off and I read it straight through. I found myself shocked, crying and hoping these characters would find their way. This is not like anything I have read in a long time. If you want to connect with characters and be pulled into a story this is the one. I can't WAIT FOR PART 2 and 3 to come out. Don't judge a book by it's price. This one won't be cheap for long... This is an interesting start to what I feel will be a great series. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect and hadn't read any other reviews of the book before starting it. I imagined, from the blurb, that it would be a ghost story heavy on the paranormal romance. I was, however, pleasantly surprised to find it was more than a ghost story; it was a story of good versus evil. It was story of human nature and its ability to strive in the face of adversity. I won't go into anymore detail suffice to say that I will most definitely be reading the sequel.

Dark Passage was a surprising and refreshing story. It is a story that exhibits nothing but the wanting of peace. But where there is peace there is chaos. As the saying goes "misery loves company". This story is about how complete strangers come together to fight against darkness. It is about the fact that people can compromise who they are deep down for objects, money or power. Very nice, can't wait to read book 2!

This was a refreshing, unexpected read that is an original. Strong character development and she knows HOW to write female characters. I enjoyed this book very much. I'm looking forward to the next in the series.

I was given recommendations from my Goodreads group to try this book. They said it was by a newby with no editor or publisher. I honestly must say I would place this book with Patterson or Koontz- tiny editing things that looked like the same old Kindle issues that all books on Kindle have. VERY well written, gripping story and the characters have more depth and animation than the MANY of the huge bestsellers. They jump off the page and into your heart. I read this lady's profile and she is a social worker with zero writing experience. A natural talent and I can't imagine what she will do in the next books. Every once in a while a book takes me by surprise- one with no editor and no publisher- well it kind of blew me away. I thought about 4 stars for the small editing things but the story was so good and the characters so well written that I just couldn't justify it- A perfectly edited book with flat characters and a flat storyline is not my first choice. Feeling a part of the lives of the characters is what draws me into a story not just as a passive reader looking from the outside widow. This book makes you think- wonder- and want to reread.

Jen's life is spiraling downward. Working full time and going to school to become a nurse, Jen also has to deal with an extremely possessive husband. The only thing that keeps her going is the handsome man filled with light who comes to her in her dreams. Her best friend Ivy, who is fighting her own demons, encourages Jen to leave her husband and rent a beautiful Victorian house owned by an author. Neither girl is prepared for what they find in this house.Faced with choices that are very difficult to make, Jen and her friends embark on a journey that will change their lives. An engrossing mixture of paranormal, mystery and romance this book has a nice flow to it. The characters are very well done, you really get a sense of who they are. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

I was recommended this book by a friend and came to Goodreads to read about it. I was expecting a zombie/ghoul book but was pleasantly surprised it was so much more than I first anticipated. It has a great story, mystery, suspense and romance. It was great story and I was sucked right into it and I am ready for more. It is a paradnormal story but I wonder if it should be listed as mystery/suspense with romance? I notices the people who are into zomby/erotica & mainstream monster type books didn't care for it- yes- I peeked at profiles to see what they were into- I don't have time to waste on a poorly written book- I loved it! I am a fussy reader but this book is my type of read and I am looking forward to the series.

I heard about this book through one of my groups at Goodreads. I read the synopsis and it seemed interesting enough for me to want to give it a go. I contacted the author and received a copy free for review. To my surprise, this book was more than just your basic, run-of-the-mill paranormal romance. The emphasis is on good VS. evil, forgiveness, and knowing that the path you chose to take isn't always the path you have to remain on. The only thing that bothered me (and this has nothing to do with the story itself) was the Kindle formatting of this story was a bit off. I found Dark Passage entertaining and would recommend it to other readers.

Excellent! This book came to me by way of a blogger who reviews both contemporary literature and a range of other Genre. As a college instructor I found it to have great depth, insight and much more than meets the eye. It is a book that takes you through not only an "on the edge of your seat" paranormal story but also exploration of human nature. I immediately thought of the Alchemist when reading this book but with a much more intense story. The book made me think and yet was also an easy read. I would be inclined to suggest this book to my students as well. This is an intersting start for a debut author and I will be purchasing other books from her as they are released.

This book had me captivated from the first page until the last. The writing style was very descriptive and imaginative. It was just shy of a 5 star rating because I would of loved to of seen more romance between the two main characters. Other than that a fantastic book and looking forward to more from this author. And a big thank you to M.L. Woolley for allowing me the opportunity to read and review this book!

I absolutely loved this book. I am usually a fan of the "good vs evil" type stories, and this was a great one! It tells of the struggles of trying to find yourself and your place in the world. I read the entire book in less than 24 hours. I just could not "put it down". As I read it on my PC, this is a figure of speech, but it's no less true! :)I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Dark Passage is a gripping story and I finished it in one day! The story felt magnetic and I could not stop reading it! It is told from several different point of views and that was confusing to me at first, because I didn't know we had changed to a different character's POV. For future books, I think putting the character's name at the top of the page would help clear up that confusion. I really appreciated the different views from each character though, it really helped to round out the story. Dark Passage is ultimately about good versus evil. A great battle is looming between the two sides. Which side will each character choose? This gripping story will have you uptight and maybe a bit anxious, until you finish the book! Will Jen be united with her soul mate and will good ultimately win over evil? The dark parts of this book were a bit dark for my taste. Reading about certain ritual sacrifices for the evil side were hard for me to stomach. However, they were not too descriptive, I am just more sensitive to violence than some people. That said, I was totally dumbfounded when the author dropped the "f-bomb" in the middle of the book. I felt it was completely out of place and not necessary to the story. For a book that discusses angels, God and the ultimate good, it seemed uncalled for. For those reasons I gave it four stars out of five. An overall great read, Dark Passage will not disappoint! I am anxious to see how things work out in the next book in the series!UPDATE: Since posting my review the author has contacted me and informed me that the "f-bomb" has been taken out of both the Kindle version and the paperback version of the book!I received this book for free.
