I enjoyed reading this collection of poems. There is a wealth of wisdom contained within the pages. It is obviously written by someone who has experienced the good and bad in life and has an important message to pass on to others about her journey. The author is a true artist seeing the world through a poet's eye. She writes so vividly as if she is painting the scenes onto a canvas; I could clearly 'see' what she was relating in the poems, they came alive in my mind. 'Emotions' is a fabulous title because this little book evokes many different emotions. It will make you smile, for example the poem about the joy of jumping into puddles, and sometimes it will make you hold back tears, as I did when reading the poem dedicated to her mother. Whether you are poetry fan or not, I would highly recommend this book as it contains some great food for thought.

The good, the bad, and the beautiful of being human, a work set to the huge dichotomy called life. A POET'S JOURNEY: EMOTION is honest human emotion expressed through beautiful rhythmic poetry. This vast collection is perfectly tuned by talented author, Marta Moran Bishop. Her work will leave you laughing, crying, and remembering. From subtle romance in MOONLIT NIGHTS to cries of nature in THE YETI SCREAMS IN PURE DELIGHT, and the ravaging pain of experiencing a loved one's terminal battle in BETRAYAL. This is powerful poetry for all.

Marta Moran Bishop’s latest compilation of poetry is a journal of her life. As readers you will be able to relate to the array of finely-tuned poems highlighting what it is like to be human. We experience the joyous memories of happy times and travel through life’s journey of disappointments, betrayal from who we believed were loyal and trusted friends, and terminal illness of a loved one. This is a courageous story set to verse. By sharing her experiences reassures all readers, at the end of the day; we are only human.

Straight from the heart . . .I truly enjoyed this collection of poems from Marta Moran Bishop. The deep emotions, observations, and insights come straight from her heart onto the page. “Life’s Miracles,” one of my favorites, talks about how busy society is, so focused on the television that we forget to focus on life. The poet’s style is short and simple, but abounding in truth. The poems she wrote for her mother and sister, “A Tribute To My Mother,” and “I’m Not Ready To Lose My Sister,” are poignant, heart-wrenching, beautiful, and immensely relatable. In other poems, her sharp words for those who have hurt pack a wallop. These poems make the reader think about her/his own life and those who have strayed, betrayed, or merely played with one’s emotions. What I love about Marta Moran Bishop’s work is that while vulnerable, she always shows her ability to rebound, to gather strength, and to help others by sharing her truths. With an appreciative and loving eye for the outdoors, she has a keen and special way of embracing the nuances of nature. The author’s first book, Wee Three: A Child’s World, remains one of my favorite books of children’s verse.

The poems in EMOTIONS convey the author’s views about nature, love, relationships, life and death. My usual preference is to read novels and memoirs yet, after my read of the author’s real-life story, ‘Dinky: The Nurse Mare’s Foal,’ I found myself gravitating towards her poetry. The poetry in EMOTIONS is poignant; the flow of words in each poem induced in me a rich and enlivening experience during my read. Although many of the poems are validations of Ms. Bishop’s personal emotional roller coaster ride due to her life’s experiences, it often felt as if the author was writing about my own. I resonated deeply with “Fire Within,” “Invisibility” and “Lessons of Life”– each triggered vivid memories and gave me pause to reflect on aspects of my own journey through life. The poems in ‘Nature’ took me into a place of nostalgia, moments when I took more time to pause and listen to the world around me. The poetry in the category, ‘Silly Me,’ took me back into childhood; they are simply delightful.“Death I Am Not Afraid” and “Life’s Miracles” are two that especially resonate with the person that I am today.

I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads. This book is thought provoking and very deep. Some of the poems really touched me, and my favorites were TRANSFORMATION and A BIT OF A BOOKWORM, which describes me more than you know. I had to take my time and dwell on these, taking my time to digest them carefully. Another good read.
