Everyone needs more nature and poetry in their lives.Well, folks, here it is!The poems in Winter's Homecoming by Robert Zimmermann are a sensory experience, one that will touch your heart and soul.I especially loved "Communion With Nature", relating at once to that "feeling like I'm kin to the world surrounding my bare feet." And ends by saying "We learn all that we need is here, in front of our eyes and under our feet."Don't let the word "Poems" scare you off. (Full disclosure, that word usually sends me running in the opposite direction.) This is a short collection, rich in content, each word meant to be savored like a fine meal.

Winter's Homecoming and Other Poems is a small chapbook, but small doesn't meant it isn't large in content. Robert uses nature as a literal and metaphoric view of life in its changing seasons. His poetry suggests the reader take a less traveled road, to observe nature's beauty, and feel the connection between earth and spirit. It is a short read, but one that will have you pondering the wisdom it contains.

This is my second release. Keep in mind that it's a chapbook containing 8 poems. So in print it'd be roughly that many pages. I hope you enjoy this little treat while I get working hard on more new material. As with my first book, From Where I Stand, I will not rate this book since I don't believe in authors doing so for their own work.

Robert Zimmermann strikes a beautiful and emotional chord with his new collection. I have my favorites: Innocence Lost, From the Earth We..., The Last Caress of Summer, but I found something natural and profound in all of them. Winter's Homecoming welcomes in a season of cold and contemplation where I feel the author's optimism tinged with resignation. Emotions are thought provoking and complex - the hallmark of any great chapbook. Do yourself a favor and get a copy.

Very few poems in this chapbook, but all of them are beautiful and heartfelt. You feel connected to nature and different seasons through the poet's words. Prosaic poems with a very special musicality that makes you feel connected to them easier. Fantastic job once more.

A beautiful taste of what the author has to offer. Check out 'From Where I stand' too.

I picked this one up as I wanted to take a moment to think about it, to think about why im reading poetry and keep coming back to it. usually I don't read much poetry at all. but I've found myself coming back to the one poet and quite liking what I've read. This short collection more than provides the answer for me. its the simplicity, and the elegance of it. the poet is up to nothing too fancy so it is quite clear what he wants to say, yet it is done so elegantly. there is a poem called Winter's Homecoming inside and that poem clearly illustrates the ease with which he makes his point. as we see the coming of winter, the imagery and the description of it are as clear as can be. yet it is that very last verse (can I call it that?) that really drives home the point.it is moody. it is reflective and often very emotive, yet it is very compelling stuff

Winter's Homecoming and Other Poems is a book showcasing eight works by Robert Zimmermann. The author has a great grasp of language, manipulating ordinary scenes into wondrous and poetry. The author's work is effective and adds a lot of character to scenery. For example, the titular work "Winter’s Homecoming" conveys ordinary feelings one might endure at winter. However, the author uses these occurrences to reminisce of those feelings. Overall, these works are well done. It is a short, perfect read for those looking to get a little bit of enjoyment. With a coupon code, I managed to buy this free from Smashwords. My comments here are honest.

My review of Winters Homecoming And other Poems, by Rob Zimmermann.Rob does it again. His poems get to you. Through his words different seasons come and go, and with them he makes you feel and see the seasons as we go. The winds, trees, dirt, sun. Feel all those things and more with this poetry book. Thank you for sharing you words and feelings with us.

I absolutely LOVED Zimmermann's first book From Where I Stand. He had a lot of pressure to live up to his first book and he didn't just meet that goal, he surpassed it. My favorite poem in the collection was Innocence Lost. It spoke to me on many levels although each poem is wonderful in its own way. Definitely check it out!

Winter’s Homecoming is a short collection of poems by Robert Zimmermann to tide us over from his previous collection, From Where I Stand, while he writes more poetry. It’s a fast read, but you’ll more than likely want to reread at least one of these poems once you finish.

Lyrically movingThanks Robert, I couldn't believe how quickly your work moved along. Inspirational, writing has become a creative release for me as well, I started early also but set it aside unfortunately. I'm rediscovering the joy reading works such as your's.

While a short collection of poetry, this is a thought-provoking book with memorable, haunting imagery, a key feature of this author's work. It leaves the reader wanting more, some of the poems so vivid in nature they could easily bear stories of their own.
