Cindy's Story by J.E.B. Spredemann is an Amish spin on the classic fairytale Cinderella, but with a unique twist. Ms. Spredemann weaves in a faith based message that really provides a spiritual boost to the fairytale theme!Seventeen year old Ella Zook also known as Cindy hasn't had an easy life. After the death of her mother at an early age, her father remarries a woman with two children and then he also dies. After that she basically became a slave to her family, even being threatened that she should never make contact with anyone otherwise they would put her out on the streets. Her only comfort is going into the woods, but when a young Amish man named Nathaniel shows up and befriends her, it seems that God hasn't forgot her after all. Thing is Nathaniel has something from his past that could change the way Cindy feels about him. I am a huge fan of Amish fiction and I don't think I have ever read a book quite like Cindy's Story by J. E. B. Spredemann. While written in the style of Cinderella, there honestly is so much more substance to this story than the classic fairy tale. Ella (Cindy) was such an amazing character. Even though her life was filled with nothing but hardship she kept an upbeat positive attitude. Great character development allowed her character to blossom and her faith to grow as the story progressed. The friendship that developed with Nathaniel certainly had a fairy tale quality, but there was also a deeper message of forgiveness that resonated as well. I loved the spiritual messages woven into the story, instead of feeling overblown or preachy they fit perfectly and seemed very realistic. A quick easy read that's perfect for anyone who enjoys Amish fiction but honestly anyone looking for a fast paced romantic read that packs a inspirational punch will enjoy it as well! Cindy's Story is a "Fairly Tale" story by J.E.B. Spredemann. It is the second of her Fairly Tales that I have read. Actually because this was an Audible edition, I was able to listen to it while doing other things as the narration played on my Iphone. The narrator was Julie Lancelot who did a good job of interpreting the different characters, making each of them more unique. This story is about an Amish girl who at a young age has lost both her biological parents and is raised by a step-mother along with two step sisters. It is a Cinderella story with an Amish twist. Because she has been treated unfairly by her step-mother, she has problems which need to be overcome. And as she meets her prince charming, she finds out about his hard to forgive past. This is a nice and sweet story and was fun to listen to. I enjoyed listening to this as well as the other books by these same authors. The author shares some scriptural references which bring the story points together. Forgiveness and love are strong themes here. This is a good read for young ladies/Disclosure: I received an Audible Edition of this book for my honest review, which I have given.

This book is loosely based on the Cinderella story. It involves an Amish girl who lives in her stepmother’s barn loft and is rescued by her prince charming. Although it is based on a fairytale type story, I found the writing and story line to be much more simplistic than what is typical of this author. I think it is best suited for the much younger preteen girl. All in all a cute story, but I would like to have seen better development of the characters and more believable details in the story. Because I know the high quality books usually put out by this author, the fact that I did not think this particular book was her best writing would not discourage me from reading other books written by her. Her boldness to share scripture in her stories is something I strongly admire.

Read this story this morning, bundled up in a warm quilt while the power was off during a winter storm. The authour presented the message of salvation in a novel way (pun intended)! The format was too short to develop the characters deeply, but by the time I was finished (and finally got my morning coffee at 3pm) I knew the hearts of the main characters and saw the gift of Jesus' forgiveness at work in them. It was a fairy tale worth reading. loved it.

Take the story of Cinderella, retell it with an Amish twist and you have a delightful read. This story also presents the plan of salvation by God's grace very clearly. This is a short story and quick read but one well worth reading. I was given a e-book copy of this novella in return for an honest review, and I loved it.

A good short story. This is a simple story of not only how we should.love each other but how God loves us. I appreciated it contained the Gospel message according to the Holy Bible and not according to man's word. even though the story was predictable and short, it kept my interest.

Final feeling: lukewarm romanceMy first time reading an Amish romance. Pro: liked the religious message (which strangely seemed anti-Amish thinking). Con: too much plot and details for a novella, lots of skipping past the relationship growth as a result

A short and sweet story which I enjoyed, despite not being the usual Amish books that I sometimes read.
