‘Almost' by Sean Michael - 5 stars"You're my Laney. And I'm fucking taking you back." That was the moment when I became fully invested in this story and these two men. Fabulous story about a second chance and dealing with the realities of life when things break bad. Hammer walked away from Lane once but he isn't taking no for an answer this time. A stubborn soldier is exactly what Lane needs in his life. Heartwarming and emotional. I loved it.‘On the Home Front' by Jambrea Jo Jones - 4 starsBulldog's life just imploded. He has just been informed that his mother was murdered and he has to go home and see to his niece Annabeth. When he arrives he finds that his brother and sister-in-law have been killed as well and while the cops think they are just random, Bulldog doesn't believe in coincidence. Thankfully he has the help of his teammate Moby.Moby just wants to be there for the man that owns his heart. He has been attracted to Bulldog from the beginning but never acted upon his feeling until now. there is no way he will let the man deal with the death of his family by himself. When bulldog finally lets himself act upon his feelings will he win everything or lose it all?Great story with a fabulous epilogue.‘Who Dares Wins' by Lily Harlem - 4 starsHot, Hot Hot. Ken's fantasies come true when his Master and partner of eight years brings home a fellow soldier for a little homecoming fun.I don't know if there is a book about how Jack and Ken meet and fall in love but I for one would LOVE to read it. Great chemistry between the three men and I am thinking a holiday reunion story would be smokin.‘An Act of Duty' by Elizabeth Coldwell - 3 starsOn a trip to Amsterdam on leave Mark steps in and helps a bartender who is being robbed. Violence seems to follow Mark and the memories and feelings of losing his best friend coming rushing back to the surface. Thankfully Robin knows just how to soothe Mark. After a weekend of friendship and one hot night of role-playing Mark has to return to duty will they bond the two men developed be strong enough to sustain them while they are apart?Nice story that you can tell either the is either from Amsterdam or has done some research.‘Trusting the Army Captain' by Noelle Keaton - 4 starsTrying to live up to the family name almost cost Patrick the most important thing. His relationship with Craig started on a lie but the feelings that grew from that first night were very real. Once Craig learns the truth can they ever really get past it?I really enjoyed this story and would have liked for it to have been longer. This is the first book by this author for me but I will be checking out more.'Letters to a War Zone' by Lucy Felthouse - 3 starsBored and kind of lonely Bailey decides to join a site that matches up soldiers with civilians. After penning his first letter Bailey isn't expecting much but is pleasantly surprised by the reply he gets from Nick. After a few months and a few letters of encouragement from Nick, Bailey has booked his first vacation in forever...the only problem is that Nick will be coming home then and Bailey hates the thought of missing seeing then man that jumped started his life again.Quick, heartwarming read about the connection people can make through letters.

Review will come in parts when i find them in my notes* Sorry...Mark is on leave goes visit Amsterdam as a sort of promise with a friend who passed. Meets robin who he spends time with and who has a fantasy of being dominated by a guy in uniform. Not much else to say here. The story was okay, nothing really grabbed at my attention.Trusting the army captainA nice short read. The end got pretty sappy and cliche real quick. Patrick is given an unofficial job that promises him a promotion if he can crack the case. Craig is his link and the person he has to figure out if he really is the mole. Romance ensues and Patrick isn't sure why his name is given as the mole. Letters to a war zoneQuickly paced. The two only exchange 2-3 letters before meeting and having sex. Bailey I guess believes himself to be in love?It was either a hit or a miss. I wasn't exactly disappointed but I wasn't exactly ecstatic about any of them either.

A Joyfully Jay review.3 starsStand to Attention is a military-themed anthology from Totally Bound Publishing. It has six individual stories set around various interpretations of the theme, contributed by the authors: Sean Michael, Jambrea Jo Jones, Lily Harlem, Elizabeth Coldwell, Noelle Keaton, and Lucy Felthouse.Okay, I’m disappointed. I jumped on this anthology with both hands – military fics are one of my favorite genres within m/m – but I wasn’t terribly impressed by this anthology. The writing is middling to poor, and the standard of editing leaves a lot to be desired. Head hopping, tense flip-flops, I could go on, but (for once) I won’t. Ack.Read Zac's review in its entirety here.

Honestly, I'm not a mega fan of military themed stories, but I wanted to give this one a try. I enjoyed the first story by Sean Michael probably the most. After that, the rest were like 2-2.5 star reads for me. Most didn't really grab me and keep me interested.

Normally I don't like novellas or anthologies, especially when the protagonists are secondary characters in other series but some of those storis stood out for me. Sean Michaels', and Lily Harlems' are my favorites. Recommend to all who like their men hot and the sex hotter.
