You say it was fate. That led you to that date. You call it kismet. That made you take that bet. Maybe destiny’s the word. You would have preferred. Doesn’t matter which you use. It’s Written in the Stars. Oh yeah, Written in the Stars!Every time Sebastian hears this opening tune he knows it’s time for the Sunday TV dating show ‘Written in the Stars’ his best friend and roommate Declan loves so much. This Sunday is special, though. Declan is determined to coax Sebastian into applying to the show.Of course Sebastian thinks that Declan’s idea is bollocks, because he is gay and ‘Written in the Stars’ pair up only guys and girls. If there wasn’t the Valentine special coming up where they are doing a guy meets guy episode. Sebastian gives in and the way is open for the most hilarious TV show ever…Guys… I won’t go into more details but Lily’s short story is just… the dog’s BOLLOCKS! I enjoyed it immensely and can’t recommend it enough. Thanks Lily for this really funny read.

Original Blog Post: Happy Happy Release Day Blitz eARC Review & Excerpt: Written in the Stars by Lily VeldenMy Rating: 4 of 4 Stars(Based on Short&Light Read Category)Sebastian Robson, I guess, had been a little bit coerced into joining a televised dating game called Written in the Stars. His best friend, Declan, primped him, coached him, practically did a makeover so he would have a chance to win a date with a handsome prize. However, after all that was said and done, Sebastian lack of filter leaked through, much to Declan's misery but to the delight of the potential date. This is a very, very short read but within a few minutes of fast reading, snorting in laughter was unexpected. This is a true comedy of errors that ends happily for Sebastian. It's 26 pages of fun and laughter that shows being honest may just be the best way to go if one looks for a happily ever after.Highly recommended short and light read.

The one general complaint I have is that the blurb tells us nothing! That being said, this is a sweet, funny short story (part of the Bollocks! Anthology). Written in the Stars is a dating show. Sebastian’s roommate, Declan, works hair and make up on the show and he’s convinced Sebastian to be a contestant. Normally, it’s a het show but they are doing a special for guy meets guy and Uh oh! Sebastian is a wonderful character to read. He’s funny, honest and doesn’t try to change himself for anyone. I appreciated that about him. This one made me smile and I wanted to read more of Sebastian!

I’ve just had the pleasure of reading a short story by Lily Veldon titled, It’s Written in the Stars. Even though it’s short it still has the necessary requirements to make a story enjoyable. It’s fun, the dialogue flows seamlessly, and the plot was gratifying.Declan and Sebastian are best friends and roommates. Written in the Stars is a TV show similar to what we have here in the US known as The Dating Game. Declan works for the show, in fashion, and talks Sebastian into being a contestant. Against his better judgment, he agrees. Declan, over the next few weeks, works tirelessly turning Sebastian into the perfect date. From the first page to the last you will wear a smile on your face. The boys know just how to push the other one to get what they want. It works because they are best friends, and they take advantage of that fact.Lily Veldon has written a really fun short story with characters that, not only are likeable, but also love to have fun. The execution of the plot was spot on. This is the perfect story to get in during your lunch break or when time is limited. I can see myself reading this during my lunch and walking back into the job smiling from ear to ear and everybody wondering what I had been up too. Grab yourself a copy, sit back, and enjoy.

I would like to start off with a warning. Do not, I repeat, do not try to drink anything while reading this short story! While delightful to read, Sebastian and his story will make sure you spit your drink all over the screen of whatever you’re reading this short story on! His thoughts, his interactions with his family, his relationship with his best friend Declan, it’s all so funny and so real, you won’t be able to put this story down. The matchmaking game show reminds us all of similar programs we’ve watched, but how Sebastian reacts, despite Declan’s heavy training, will make this one to remember. The honesty of the situation, the way Sebastian sees the train wreck as it happens yet seem unable to stop it, it’s all so gloriously entertaining, I just can’t find the words to tell you how much I loved it. So… Just go get your copy, read it, laugh, and get it over with!

Reviewed by Brandilyn for Prism Book Alliance. Written is the Stars by Lily Velden is a sweet and refreshingly funny short about being yourself and maybe finding love. This isn't an insta-love story. It isn't about two perfect individuals who are perfect for each other. The on main character isn't the yin to the other MC's yang. It is a story of one man who can't do anything right, yet still finds himself with the man of his dreams in the end. They shouldn't fit. Yet, you can't help rooting for them to find each other in the end. Find the whole review at

What can I say about this story? It's funny and Sebastian is so cute. Yeah...he has a verbal diarrhea and no-filter at all but that's what Declan liked about Sebastian.Lily Velden is an amazing writer that can really play with her characters, even showing that love can be found even in the strangest places.HEA is guaranteed.

Ex-pats in on a blind date style show. Very funny. Just the cute meet for the couple but in a well written story that can be enough. Although I did want to know what the 'long story' was.
