1 - "I'm no good at destroying people." Star.DNF @ 61%This book had all the elements to be a winner for me, The start of a series focusing around three sisters, set in Rebel, Texas. Featuring two families; the Tuckers and Sawyers that have been at odds with each other for many years... Sounds good right? Add in a sexy bull-rider who has returned to town after ten years to try and sort out his ailing grandfathers ranch, a guy who also has history with one of the aforementioned sisters and I was all-sorts of happy to start Texas Thunder. Especially when you take into account that he is a Sawyer, and she is a Tucker!"Life doesn't always work out the way we want."I stuck with this book as I was certain that at some point it would get moving, but at 61% very little has actually happened to develop the story, yes there is a little bit of intrigue and a couple of kisses. But the only real news we find out is the reasonings as to why Brett left Callie all those years ago... (view spoiler)[ Apparently blowing your load in your pants prior to doing the deed for the first time is a really, really good reason to haul ass from the school prom and leave your date at the curbside...(hide spoiler)]What really didn't help is that I didn't really find anything that like-able about the Tucker sisters on the whole, Callie seems to have a martyr complex being the eldest, and her younger siblings Jenna and Brandy (not that young both are working) are both happy to sit back and let her take everything on.I really wanted to like this book, I just lost interest waiting for it to start.ARC provided via Netgalley, I am sorry I cannot offer a more positive review on this occasion.

This novel is very steeped in pop culture. It’s so easy to picture it all happening. Raye develops the ranches of Texas in a way that allows readers to visit them while they’re enjoying a whirlwind of the story. Parts of this story are so hot they sizzle. Other parts are intensely emotional. Yet others, were funny as anything. The perpetual back and forth for both the main characters – I can’t do this, we shouldn’t do this, but I want to do this – throughout the novel definitely formed their entire relationship. These two have very different yet equally difficult familial pasts. At the same time, they were great people in and of their own right. I enjoyed the fact that they wanted to help others. Jenna’s dating ‘dilemmas’ were absolutely hilarious. She puts new meaning into ‘say what you mean’. This is definitely a sweet and intriguing novel that brought forth a myriad of different topics. Raye has created a hot & heartfelt novel with this one. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

copy from Tantor Audiooriginal review at: http://ramblingsfromthischick.blogspo...When I saw the reviews for “Texas Thunder” by Kimberly Raye I jumped at the chance to review it and hear it on audio. I thought that this sounded like a great plot and I love small town romances and settings. The story is set in Rebel. Rebel is a very small town that has a diverse industry. There is real estate, family owned diners, cattle raising and moonshine.Callie Tucker is our heroine. She never left Rebel even though she wanted to. She is works for a real estate office but never got her license as a realtor. She is the oldest sister and very much a martyr. She is also an emotional eater, and half-eaten cupcakes are a testament to her bad days. The author constantly points out that Callie has “gained a few.” Not only that but the towns people are also very quick to point out that Callie is not as thin as she use to be. When she goes to the store even the clerk finds it her duty to point out what she should or should not be eating.Brett Sawyer was a high school sweetheart. He is making a living as a rodeo star and is back in Rebel only because his Popi has early stages of Alzheimer’s. Since Brett’s father was an alcoholic, it was his grandfather that raised him. Aside from taking care of his Popi he also has to find a way to deal with the family home that is falling apart and he needs to sell to fix their financial situation. Brett almost took Callie’s virginity during high school but last minute he backed out and since then Callie has been scarred.I have to confess that I didn’t like either Callie or Brett. I tried to be sympathetic but I didn’t feel sorry for Callie. Even though she spent the entire story feeling sorry for herself. She wallowed about everything. Her own background was like Brett in that her parents were killed one night on their way to help Callie. She is very down on herself because of her weight and because Brett rejected her all those years ago. She is also very angry and disappointed in grandfather whom she gave $10,000 to pay off a debt but ended up using it for his own enjoyment. Now as for Brett. I couldn’t find anything I liked about him. Yes, he was very loyal to his sister and his grandfather but everyone in this story seems so mean and vile. Even his cousin is trying to take over his contract with Wrangler… In the mist is an old family feud between the Tuckers and the Sawyers. Brett and Callie’s grandfathers use to have a very successful recipe for moonshine. When they fought and parted ways, each one took their piece of the recipe. Now Brett and Callie are trying to find it so they can get the cash they desperately need. While they are working together, their old feelings resurface. I wish I can saw that I was happy for them when they finally got together, but I can’t. I didn’t enjoy them as a couple or as individual people. To add to an already thick plot, Brett has to figure out why the ranch is losing money and there might be someone who is trying to sabotage the ranch.I hung on until the end because I found Callie’s sisters both funny and quirky. Although this was not a hit for me, I will continue to read more books by the author. It was interesting to read about the life of the cowboys and a small town.I have to say that just like the story was lackluster so was the narrator… Rebecca Estrella seemed very robotic. She did not give too much emotion to the story.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.I've read Harlequin Blaze novels before from this author. Her books were hot and entertaining. I liked her Love At First Bite series from that imprint because they were just enough of paranormal and romance and steam combined to keep me happy for the entire book. When I saw this first book in a new series, I was excited to review this because I liked the arc and the background of the story. Hello, who doesn't like cowboys, right? Overall, this was a pretty enjoyable read. I, of course, liked the hero. The heroine was okay, but I think her character wasn't something that blew me away. While I enjoyed reading this book, I have to be honest and admit that it's not one of those most memorable books that I can't see myself moving on from. I liked this book, but I doubt I'd even remember every detail of this book a few weeks from now. However, I will still say that this is a good book, and if I had the next book in my hand right now, I'd still go ahead and pursue this series. After all, it is still a good love story and you really can't go wrong with cowboys and ranches and everything in between.

I really wanted to like this one, loved the moonshine aspect, but in the end it was just a bit too much with the "Hatfield and McCoy" type family battle and the "Romeo and Juliet" forbidden romance. I also hated how everyone in the small town seemed to jump in and give Callie some polite back-handed condolences. In the end this one just wasn't for me.

The author grabs you attention with a mystery of Texas Thunder moonshine and they family feuding around it as she gives you a intriguing, complex beginning to the Rebel Moonshine series and the love that never was. Two people who have loved each other for a century to bullhead to see it as their families along with other issues torn them apart. It isn’t easy when families can’t get along because of a falling out they had before you were born. They had the best moonshine around, the best of buddies until one day it all fall apart they torn the recipe in half along with their friendship. Now with times being hard and the two families are about to lose their homes the only thing that will save them is the lost recipe for Texas Thunder. Brett and Callie had a thing for each other in high school which turned out bad each going their own way. Years later with the home about to be lost they come together in the hunt for the recipe to sell it to keep their homes. The attraction between the two is stronger than ever it is just to late to forgive and forget the past. One night of misunderstandings tore their world apart as each walked away from the other neither being able to forget or forgive. When these two get together sparks fly as tempters rise, can they keep it together until they can find the recipe or will they give into the lust they hold for each other. What will they do when and if they find out that lust just might be more. The author gives you mysteries of who did it and why. Some of the mysteries will be solved others will go into the next book or maybe even the next one. You see a lot of pain and sorrow from these two along with their grandfathers. Each of the sisters has issues as I am sure will come to light as the series goes on. Brett’s sister has been betrayed she isn’t looking for a love but she just might be getting it or will this new man break her heart as well. The author gives great characters from pappy who will break your heart as he goes through a trying time. I am sure many of you will relate to him and come to love him as you watch his pain. Brett’s sister is a sweetheart who I could relate to she is just down to earth wanting to do what is best for her family as she gets over her ex. The three sisters are a trip as each one deals with their fears, they keep you laughing at the things they pull. I found at times this to be a very humorous book as well as a very sad one. The author does give you passionate love scenes which I really did not feel but it doesn’t mean it was not a good read. I thought this was a wonderful read, I enjoyed the humor and getting to know these characters. I am very much looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Ms. Raye is a new author to me that I feel will give us readers a wonderful new series to look forward to. If you are looking for a intriguing, complex for love lost and a family feuding this is the book for you. Sometimes you might just get a second chance to get your hearts desire….

Brett Sawyer had been running for most of his life, he just refused to call it that. He left Rebel, Texas hell bent on making a name for himself but mostly because he refused to accept that he was anything like his father. Now he’s back and not because he wants to be. His Grandfather, “Pappy” is sick and the ranch that he grew up on is close to being foreclosed on. It’s up to him to set things straight but when he discovers that cattle are missing as well as the contents of Pappy’s safe, he’s worried that he won’t be able to fix things and he may just have a thief on hands as well.. When Cassie Tucker approaches him with an offer for his families half of the famous moonshine recipe, he knows that it’s just what he needs to help save the ranch but will they find it time? Better yet will he be able to set his feelings for Cassie aside in order to find what they need in order to sell the recipe? He messed up when they were little more than kids and he’s determined not to do that again.Cassie Tucker fell in love with Brett when they were in high school and despite the feud that had been ongoing between their families for generations, she has trusted him right up until he dumped her that faithful night which caused a chain reaction that changed her entire life. Now she has to trust him again, because if she can’t come up with a way to pay the taxes on her family’s ranch, she’s going to lose everything. All she’s ever wanted to do was leave but circumstances have always kept her from leaving but if they can find that recipe, she’ll finally be free to pursue her dreams for a change. This book had a really slow start and I almost gave up on it numerous times. Cassie and Brett’s characters were okay but I actually liked Cassie’s sister’s and Brett’s sister better. Cassie was kind of uptight most of the time, always worrying about those around her and then binge eating because of it. Brett was okay but he was Cassie’s opposite. For most of the book he was hell bent that his Pappy was going to better and he was going back on to the rodeo circuit. I guess it just rubbed me the wrong way for both of their characters. I did like the dual POV, the so called feud between the two families, even though I would have liked to have known more about it, and also the few glimpses of the sisters that were included which is why I kept my rating at three stars and not two. I do look forward to reading Brandy’s book which is coming up next in the series and called Red Hot Texas Nights.I received an ARC from St. Martin’s Press through Netgalley in return for an honest review.

Two enemy families for some time because of a fight between two of their ancestors.Archbald Tucker and Elijah G. Sawyer were partners in preparing and selling a moonshine called Texas Thunder. But they fought and divide the recipe in half. After that, neither side could produce a similar drink.Shortly after, the Sawyer decided to invest their money in land and cattle. But Tucker insisted on trying to find the perfect drink. And now James Tucker has just died an accident while trying to distill drink, leaving his family in ruin.At the funeral of his grandfather, Callie Tucker is concerned about how she will pay off the debt in the bank in one month, or she and her sisters will have to move. But in the meantime, she ends up finding the love of her life, the enemy, Brett Sawyer, the millionaire. But what nobody knows is that Brett's grandfather, before fully succumbing to Alzheimer's, made several wrong investments and now Sawyer also desperately need money. The only difference is that they have the cattle to sell. But something bigger could take the two families of bankruptcy ... if they work as a team and meet the famous recipe of Texas Thunder. Could this business union work?Could Brett and Callie work together without rekindle the flame of passion they had in past?A fun, intriguing and engaging romanceCallie and Brett are fun together, and love the fact that when she gets nervous need to "attack" sweets (cupcakes, yummy!!!).The ending is surprising and now I'm curious to know how will be her sister story.5 starsARC provided by Netgalley in exchange of an honest review

I liked this book. It was a fun, sassy romance book. The Tuckers and Sawyers used to have the best moonshine in all of Texas, till one day there was a feud so big, that the only option was to dissolve the business and friendship. With the two men not being friends anymore, the only logical solution was to divide the Texas Thunder moonshine in half, that way neither of them could make a profit on it.Callie Tucker has sacrificed her dreams to take care of her two sisters and her Grandpa. Callie's Grandpa was a mean old man with a gambling problem, who gambled away the money Callie gave him to pay the taxes on their home. After her Grandpa dies in a fire, the bank decides to foreclose on the ranch unless the money can be paid. After running into a business man who was in talks with Callie's Grandpa to get the recipe for Texas Thunder, Callie sees that as her way out of debt. The only issue is that she'll have to deal with the boy she once loved to get the whole recipe.Brett Sawyer is back home again after being on the Pro-Rodeo circuit. His Pappy has alzheimers and the ranch is in trouble. Having no other option but to work with the one girl who hes always wanted, Brett decides to look for the other half of the moonshine recipe with Callie. These two had great chemistry and were really perfect together, after they both decided they can't always run away from their problems. that is. This is an awesome start to what will be an amazing series. http://southernbooknerd.blogspot.com/...

Texas Thunder is a an intriguing and complex beginning to the Rebel Moonshine series, with a century long feud, a long lost recipe for liquid gold, and forbidden love.A decade earlier, Callie Turner had the man of dreams within her arms, but cold feet or sudden clarity forced Brett Sawyer to cast Callie aside and run for the hills. So the last person Callie expected to see at her pappy’s wake was the ghost of her most humiliating moment.Brett’s returned to his family homestead of Bootleg Bayou under less than desirable circumstances, and faced with a heartache he could never have imagined, his doesn’t need to add an entanglement with his one true regret. The cast of Texas Thunder are interesting, prideful and emotionally torn between dreams and duty, but their depth of character is what makes this story so thoroughly enjoyable. This book has heart; lots and lots of heart. And whether it be the will to survive, denial in the fight against inevitable loss, or the temptation to run from the heartbreak of life, these wonderful people will have you holding your breath for their HEA.A captivating, powerful and tug at the heartstrings emotional story, which will definitely have you wanting more.

A recipe torn in half, a friendship destroyed and a feud that has lasted decades are the back story of this novel. Sawyers and Tuckers once made “Texas Thunder” – the best moonshine around – but the recipe when lost created friction in Rebel, Texas dividing the town’s population down the middle. Generations later Callie Tucker and Brett Sawyer, once high school friends, find themselves looking for solutions to problems they are facing. How they deal with their problems, their families and one another is the first novel in the Rebel Moonshine series. This was an enjoyable read with characters for future books presented without giving away the love stories they will be involved in. This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it. I would definitely enjoy finding out what will happen in the rest of this series and how everything will work out in the end.Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press (Paperbacks) for the copy of this book to read and review.

I was given this book for an honest review!Texas Thunder is a book about two Texas families who made the best moonshine in the whole state of Texas. The Tuckers and the Sawyers have been feuding for years after the two best friends had a fight and split the recipe for the Texas Thunder right down the middle. So when Callie Tucker and Brett Sawyer decided they wanted to date. Things got complicated and went down hill fast. Callie's parents died and Callie was left to take care of her sisters and her pape. Brett hightailed it out of town and went on the rodeo circuit. So when Callie's pappy dies and Brett's pappy's Alzheimer has gotten so bad he has to return to take over the ranch and take care of his pappy. All the old feelings come rushing back. This was a very nice story. My only problem is that I was disappointed with all the unanswered questions! So I'm hoping for a sequel to wrap it all up.

Review featured on www.books-n-kisses.comI had a hard time with this story. Yes it is cute and the premise is good. It is kind of a current version of Hatfield’s and McCoy’s. But the hard thing was the writing. So many repeats of the same things over and over. I was so tired of hearing about about how the grandfather of Callie didn’t care about anything but his moonshine. And Brett thinking his pappy would get better when the ranch was taken care of. The chemistry is there for the couple and the background characters are interesting. It just seemed really slow to me. And a bit depressing to tell the truth. But again the romance part is good and of course works out in the end. Even though she knows it’s a recipe for disaster, Callie Tucker needs to make a devil’s bargain with red-hot hellraiser, Brett Sawyer in order to save her home in this riveting contemporary romance. The author’s new series is a sweet, passionate story that captures the heart and provides a thrilling happily ever after especially as I was beginning to think that there was no way these two were going to work things out, talk about stubborn and refusing to see and I just have to wonder if the other characters especially the sisters of the characters are just as stubborn, they’ve certainly caught my interest.“Copyright Night Owl Reviews”©See my full review at:https://www.nightowlreviews.com/v5/Re...

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Texas Thunder is a story about two feuding families who years ago a dispute torn them apart over something. no one really knows why. But their moonshine recipe was the best and is now lost. For Brett Sawyer, being in the rodeo and doing his thing was always his dream. Coming home to deal with the ranch and his pappy isn't high on his priorities list, but seeing Callie again, well that makes it worth it. Callie Tucker is burying her grandfather and dealing with lies that have led her down a path of putting her needs and wants on the back burner. Running into Brett again is the last thing she wants after what happened in high school. It's a cute story and fun to read.

An excellent read! For as long as anyone can remember, the Tuckers and the Sawyers have been at odds. But the original feud was decades ago and right now the only way for Callie Tucker to save the family home is to enlist the help of the one person she never wanted to see again, Brett Sawyer. Escaping an abusive father, Brett left home years ago but now he's back helping out his Pappy. Temporarily! When Callie Tucker asks for his help to find the original moonshine recipe, he knows there is no way to turn her down. Too bad his attraction and desire for her is still right there. Is there anyway these two can find their way??I really enjoyed the writing in this one. There were some great characters too so hopefully we will see more. I would definitely recommend this one.

Callie Turner had the man of dreams within her grasp, but cold feet or something else made Brett Sawyer let Callie go and run for the hills. Brett Sawyer has returned to his family homestead of Bootleg Bayou and not under the best of circumstances. Faced with a heartache he could never have imagined, he will also come face to face with his one regret. When Brett turns up at Callie’s pappy’s wake he is the last person she expects to see. But when things get desperate Callie will need to reach to the one man she wants nothing to do with. Can Callie and Brett let go of the past or will it be their past that costs them everything.

Brett is a typical man his mind always going to sex when Callie is around, "very, very happy implied sex. Lots of bone-melting, breath-stealing, down-and-dirty sex. At least in Brett’s mind. So when Callie Tucker murmured the H word , it drew his full , undivided attention." He knows how to get a woman's blood pumping, “it’s not Les I’m thinking about. You’re really good, Callie.” His gaze darkened and heat whispered across her nipples. “In fact, you’re pretty amazing.” I liked this book Brett was so sexy and Callie I fell in love with her.

*Received an ARC through NetGalleyTexas Thunder take me away! Bret is the hardworking bull rider temporarily back in town to help his ailing grandfathers ranch. Callie, having recently lost her grandfather, is trying to save their house after poor financial decisions made by her late Pappy. This story is about a love that was too strong for the couple in their youth, but now maybe the only thing that saves them. Add in a pinch of illegal corn whiskey, a dab of sweet treats, and one steamy scene by the river and you too can have Texas Thunder.

A quick and easy read with some fiery love scenes, loveable characters, and a hail Mary attempt to find a lost moonshine recipe.
