once upon an assassin Reviews
I should start by saying that I've read every single book that Miss Silverbow has published and make it a point to get them read as soon as they are available. She has never disappointed me thus far, and Once Upon an Assassin is no exception to that.I wasn't sure what the details of this book were when I started reading it, it's more fun that way sometimes, when you don't know what to expect. Konstanz is wonderful at weaving fairy tale type stories that leave you captivated and craving more. I read well into the wee hours of the morning to finish this book and was moved by the ending... Moved to tears. I haven't had a book make me cry in a long time, but the story tugged at my heartstrings. Bravo, Konstanz. Once again you have delivered a masterpiece!
Another awesome readKonstanz Silverbow has continued this series perfectly. Each book has its own set of saviour although so far Lily and Gavin are my favourites. Gavin is also Derrick the dark assassin and is supposed to gather the royal secrets so Cordae can overthrow the kingdom. Except once he meets Lily he learns to love again and starts to reconsider his life choices.
I received a copy of Once Upon An Assassin by Konstanz Silverbow in exchange for an honest review.Note: this review contains spoilers!Gavin was orphaned when his parents were killed when he was eight. That night he became Derrick, killer apprentice to the killer of his parents. Because he didn't want to die, he became very good at what he does. His current job is to go to Tivor, infiltrate the castle, and find out anything he can about the king's plans. Then he is to report back to Cordae, go back to the castle, and kill the royal family. Sounds simple.Only Derrick didn't count on falling in love, making friends, and remembering too much of Gavin. Princess Lily is taken by Gavin (he didn't want to use his assassin's name) since she first sees him. After causing the princess to fall into a river and then rescuing her, Gavin is viewed as a hero by all but Hera the kingdom’s fairy godmother. Increasingly torn between his duty to Cordae, his growing affection to Princess Lily, and his memories of Gavin, our hero is pulled closer and closer to doing good. The author is so good at letting the reader feel what the character does. Using a first person narrative is an excellent way to know all we can about Gavin.I enjoy all of Konstanz's books because she has such a unique perspective and unique characters. This book is no exception.
This is book 3 of the Finding Gold series and like the other two it meant to be read as a stand alone and it does not disappoint. We are introduced to this poor chap who is forced to be someone he is not all because this other character wants to rule the whole world. I like that you have all the elements of a great fairy tale in this story, fairy godmother, dragons, witches and of course a lesson to be learned. I am very delighted that Konstanz continues to write and share these delightful stories with me. If you like the other two books in this series this one won't disappoint you either.
A great Fairy tale story with witches, magic, dragons.Good characters, drama, action, angst, romance and a lesson to learn.A YA book but kept me interested throughout the story.Enjoyed reading.
I felt like this was not going to end well. But it ended better than I could have ever imagined! So many secrets and so little time. I think I loved this one the best so far.
