Bear with me, my English is having a meltdown and I have to do this story justice. This story was lovely. Two lonely guys found each other when they need it the most, both characters have very low self esteem, the fact is that they don't rate themselves very highly and they are always thinking that others won't either. Past boyfriends did a number on them, and it's hard to see themselves as someone worth it.I don't have low self esteem, never had, so I love to read books about this topic to understand better how these people deal with it. They tend to stay in bad relationships, because they don't have the confidence to know that they would be better living alone than with someone who is damaging them or their morale. This couple finally found their HEA, however, a sequel would be great.

This book was sweet and cute. Sam is alone and feeling vulnerable, after a difficult time with an ex, and then a break up, he has spent his time comfort eating, and his self-confidence is at an all time low. His doctor advises that he needs to eat better and exercise to lose weight, so he takes the plunge and joins the locals gym. Luke is one of the training instructors at the gym, and he immediately appeals to Sam, but it isn't until he discovers Luke one day, having had his phone stolen that the two become friends. There are a few insecurities in both sides to overcome before they can look forward to the future together. I will certainly look for other stories by this author, having really enjoyed this tale. Thanks

I came upon this book when I was just looking for a light filler between two bigger commitment books. It completely hit the spot. To be fair, this book is probably more of a 3 star read. It had a fair share of editing mistakes and was fairly formulaic. However, I really loved the main characters. I loved them and their story enough to bump it up a star. The vulnerability they displayed and the awkwardness of a new relationship made for compelling reading, and I felt like the author did an amazing job building a complete story for these gents in a short amount of space. Anyone who enjoys a light m/m read will love this story. I will definitely be looking for more writing from this author in the future.

This book was very timely in my life because I finally went to the gym for the first time all year this past Sunday. Did it motivate me to continue? Time will tell, I'm such a lazy bastard. This was a sweet story and very realistic.I have to assume this was based in the UK but I wished we were told the country. I did like how the author mentioned Sam putting on deodorant and cologne because so many other books have their characters just shower and then put on clothes. Don't they moisturize? Use deodorant? I liked that detail. The writing was wonderful and the story was good I just wished there was a bit more passion between Sam and Luke. For some reason Sam came across older than 23 but whatever. Nice story.

There is something about the overweight, insecure guy that just pulls my heart strings. Yes, it got a little frustrating that he continually couldn't believe Luke would want him, but I get it! It was a nice twist that both men were just as emotionally damaged by their exes. No real angst, just a slow coming together.

I thought it was a sweet story and I enjoyed reading about Sam and Luke they were sweet together. I always tell people no matter what your size we all have issues. Being smaller does not make your issues go away. You can have low self esteem at any size, the same goes for confidence.

I think my expectations for this one were too high. What kept me from liking as much as I expected to was the way the protagonist, Sam, pinned so much on Luke. (view spoiler)[When Luke turns him down for a date, Sam spirals into a severe eating binge. As a comfort eater, I totally get that. But, I was hoping he could learn something about himself and his relationship with food and figure out how to break the unhealthy cycle. Instead, he only comes out of the spiral when Luke accepts his invitation to date. Another example - Sam struggles with body issues and only starts accepting his body after Luke does. (hide spoiler)]It just seemed like Sam was trading one unhealthy attitude for another to me. (view spoiler)[It's a recipe for disaster. Anytime he is insecure about his relationship with Luke, I can see him turning to comfort foods and giving up on his health. If they break up, same thing. His health hinges on Luke to an unhealthy degree. Sam even mentions that he doesn't have any friends - that Luke is his only friend. That is SO much pressure on Luke! (hide spoiler)]In the end, instead of liking Sam (which I was predisposed to do, since weight is an issue I totally empathize with!), I found him to be very immature. I wanted to sit him down and tell him that you shouldn't pin all your happiness on another person. It's unfair to you and to your partner and that kind of pressure seems like it would lead to SO many problems. Instead, you have to figure out how to be happy with yourself. Then, when you find the right person, he'll ADD to your happiness - not be RESPONSIBLE for it.

3.5I believe there are a lot of people around the world who can totally understand the unpleasant situation Sam, the MC, is in. A bit too rounded, with health issues knocking at the door and lack of love life (all of these because of his bad eating habits) he is forced to choose whether to continue walking this disastrous path or grab a hold of his own life and make something good out of it.His good intentions to finally change things for better lead him to a local gym and are soon rewarded, when Sam meets someone he can truly fall in love with – his gym trainer, Luke – who also has his own demons to fight. Together, they manage to overcome their fears and find the comfort they needed. “Hungry for Love” is a nice, well-written story, with cute characters, which are so real you can touch them. It was great to see them achieve some well-deserved happiness after all the misery they have been through.

3.5 starsI enjoyed this story, it's nice to read a book set near where I was born. The characters are good and well thought out although I thought Luke was immature considering he was 23/24. He acted like someone much younger. I liked the storyline with Sam wanting to improve his health and get fit. I only wish my gym membership was as cheap as Sam's and had bottled water included!! The description of Sam's awkwardness in going to the gym for the first few times is so true. I think we've all been there at some point. I felt so sorry for Sam and Luke, they had high been treated badly and their self esteem was so low. I enjoyed how they found each other and how their relationship went far beyond just being physically attracted to each other. There were some formatting issues that make it frustrating to read at times so that needs addressing, as well as the wrong words used in places.

Now I love a book about real sized people. Not the model type, but the bit overweight, average looking person, who falls in love. And because the person one is inside the outer shell, one looks naturally for some eye candy, knowing that one never has a chance. But is that true? Do good looking people ignore others? Or do they have their own insecurities, like everyone else? It makes a good read to find out.

Super cute, short read. I really liked this one.... For anyone to know what it's like to have insecurities and to try and work passed them. I'm glad these two found love together and it goes to show that you don't have to be perfect to find love. Very cute

A short story about Sam and Luke, one an overweight bakery shop manager, the other a trainer at the local gym in Peterborough. Both 23, both recovering from bad relationships, both with low self-esteem.A promising situation quite well-realised.Sam seems older than 23, Luke a shade younger but that might be to do with different family backgrounds as Sam lives independently of his parents, while Luke is still at home with his Mum and brother. The plot revolves around their growing trust in each other and their burgeoning love while Sam struggles to lose weight and Luke to find the confidence to believe in himself. The ending is upbeat after only a few stumbles on the path to happiness. It was good for a change to have one main character who was not conventionally cute/handsome/toned but had a lot going for him and one who despite being cute/fit was not overconfident. The author also avoided sexual stereotyping. Bonus marks for that.I did find some of the conversation a bit clunky and forced although on the whole this was clearly -written.This was a free download from Amazon.

Hungry For Love by Louise Lyons is a short story about Sam and Luke. Sam works as an assistant manager of a bakery and Luke is a trainer who works at the Gym Sam goes to in order to get healthier. Each of them have their own past issues with relationships and fears of being hurt. Coming together they help the other overcome their issues. This is a sweet MM romance. I enjoyed the fact that there were characters who weren't portrayed as being perfect. The fact that Sam isn't some buff perfect man that everyone falls head over heels for was refreshing. I would like to have known more about their past though but for a short story it was good.

Hungry For Love This is a tough one for me for several reasons. Maybe 2.5 stars, but I'm not sure. The blurb had a lot of promise, and really drew me in. It's always nice to have an MC who isn't perfectly toned with washboard abs and a beautiful face. And since I've read a book about a character getting fit a little while ago and really enjoyed it, I gave this a try. But I was also sceptical, and I'm afraid, I was right. At least a little. The problem with this kind of storyline is the fine line the author walks on. On the one hand, there is a lot to say for a character who experiences health problems because of too much weight and decides to do something about it. Many people can relate to that, and some probably also admire the MC, because he manages to get up and do something about it while the rest of "us" usually make up excuses for not even joining a gym or changing a diet. And it's good to see somebody (even though he is fictional) taking action, changing their lifestyle and getting healthier and happier. But. And that was part of my problem with this story. As I said, there is a small line between "I want to get healthier and feel better." and "I have to work out and be slim, because otherwise I'll never find happiness." IMHO, there lies a very dangerous path of thinking and our MC, Sam, displays it to a T. He might have started to think about his weight because of his doctor and his health, but later he solely focused on getting slim in order to maybe have a chance with Luke. I'm not saying that the outside inlfuence and the additional motivation of Sam weren't understandable or even normal, but I do think it was unhealthy at times. Especially after Sam thought he was rejected because of his body and immediately started eating as much as he could, as unhealthy as he could, and stopped working out altogether. And only started again because Luke came around. It was like he exchanged one obsession for the other. Sam was so convinced he couldn't be the least bit happy if he wasn't at least 30 pounds slimmer. Or more toned. Or more beautiful. Health wasn't exactly his motivational rock. Which is why I had issues with this story. I don't think the author did it intentionally. Luke was a good antipole to this line of thinking. He wanted to get to know Sam and be with him, no matter what his size. Which was refreshing, and sweet. So in the end, the author really tried to show how wrong Sam's thinking was at times. But it couldn't completely erase my concerns and unhappiness. The other thing I wasn't completely happy with was Luke's story. A lot was hinted at, paraphrased or insinuated. But there wasn't a lot of "concrete" telling or showing. Luke, like Sam, has big issues with self-esteem and self-worth, but for completely different reasons. He too was treated badly by an ex-boyfriend, obviously especially in the bedroom. But we don't really get a lot more than that which bugged me a lot. I couldn't understand where Luke was coming from a lot of times, and his unexplained issues made him seem more immature than anything else. All in all, it was an okay read, but my issues kept me from completely ennjoying it. 2.5 stars, rounded down for now.

I purchased this book for free from All Romance Ebooks. After a bad breakup, Sam Wilkinson turned to food for comfort, eventually landing him in the doctor’s office because of dizzy spells and breathlessness. When his doctor says he needs to lose weight for his own health, Sam joins the local gym and meets Luke Walker; fitness trainer. The pair are attracted to each other but Sam is convinced no man could ever want him again and Luke has past issues with a cheating ex. Will these two be able to gather enough courage to love again?I’m not an emotional eater but my own struggles with weight and self-esteem struck a chord with me. I could completely identify with both character’s feelings of “what if my dickwad, cheating ex was right and I’m unworthy of love?” This story manages to convey those feelings without beating the message over your head. Sam and Luke are likable and I found myself disappointed when the story was over. But it’s best to be short and sweet when a story is written well. It doesn’t get super naughty until the end, though so the smexy times are well placed and feel natural. I would give this story a solid 3.5 out of five because things were wrapped up a little too perfectly but I still felt like the characters deserved their happy ending. This review has also been posted on my blog: https://literaryloon.com/2016/04/18/l...

This is a very good story. It is well written and relate-able. I've since read more from Louse Lyons and love her stories and characters. When Sam Wilkinson visits the doctor after experiencing breathlessness and dizzy spells, he receives the news that his weight is putting his health at risk. With instructions to choose healthier meals, and get some exercise, he makes efforts to change things for the better. I really liked this short story. Sam felt very real to me. His talking himself into and out of things. The way he justified his failures and down played his achievements. It sounded like several people I know that struggle with food and weight. His self esteem has been pulverized and letting Luke in little by little takes courage. Luke too has to rebuild his confidence after having it trashed by his ex. There are a few stumbling moments getting their relationship going but it flourishes once it takes hold. I loved Luke's family. His little brother is a hoot. Adult read

I have a thing for heroes who aren't perfect :) Sam was just adorable with his hang-ups, his low self-esteem and the way he was ashamed of his looks. He's so real, especially when he gives in to his cravings and falls back into old habits. And Luke, the poor guy is the perfect pretty man, but it didn't do him any good with his bastard of an ex. Both MCs have their issues, but together they are a cute couple. I loved the way their relationship built slowly. It wasn't a smooth journey, but it wasn't overly angsty either. Sweet book :)

Very sweet and relatableMost of us share the same type of insecurity that Sam feels and feeling embarrassed the first time you go to the gym. Also most suffer from a toxic relationship where you are made to less then you are. This story shows how Luke and Sam get past their feeling of inadequacy and see each other as the men that are at heart. This story was sweet and funny..yet touching...
