NOW LIVE!!*Amazon*Barnes & Noble*iBooks*Meant to Be Mine is the start of Lisa Marie Perry's Guilty Pleasures series, set in Eaves, Massachusetts. The story follows Sofia Mercer, one time resident of the small town, as she comes back for her Aunt's funeral. She was the "sick kid" in town, so dealing with her heart condition left little time to worry what people thought of her. But now that she's back all the old memories and gossip come around again, and she can't wait to leave. The plan was to pay her respects and then leave town as soon as possible. But now she's left with all of her Aunts possessions to deal with and on top of that, a sighting of her old friend, Burke Wolf, leads her plans to change and she's just not sure what to do. I stupidly have not read anything else by this author, but I can tell you that that will change very soon. I loved her writing and how she could create this emotional story without it being obvious. There wasn't crying and there were no blatant emotions thrown at you within each page of the story, but when I finished the book, it made me just sit back and think, "damn." It's the overall story that affected my soul in ways I wasn't expecting. Meant to Be Mine is far from the typical contemporary romance, and for that fact, I loved it.Sofia and Burke's romance showed how hard love is. Loving someone is far easy, it takes work, and patience, and being able to forgive. It's fighting for the person you want to be with, and dealing with heartache and pain to get to be with them. But it's worth the fight, and this couple perfectly portrays why so many of us are willing to crawl our way through hell to get to that feeling of being loved. "I'd kiss you hard every day if it meant your mouth would be this sexy when I let you go."Mixed with the emotions that we got, we also saw a very eclectic group of people ban together to help one of their own. Part of what Sofia inherited was her Aunts sex shop, which, as you can imagine, lead to some very interesting scenes, but it was also home to some of the best moments between friends. Seeing the different people that came in and out of there added the humor, and sense of belonging to the story. I really adored all of the secondary characters, so I'm already impatiently waiting for the next book. Sofia was a very strong character, and I felt like the majority of the story focused on her, more than Burke. But I also really liked that fact because we got to see the struggles she went through to get to this point in her life and it made me connect to her character. Burke was still a big part of the story, and I liked his character, but Sofia was the true star. Burke and Sofia both had a really hard life growing up, but it's what made them strong in the present. I liked that they both had a lot to overcome and we got to see the after affects of all they went through. Most of the past we learned about was the recent years, and not too much from when they were younger, which I would have liked to see. I think it could have made them even more relatable than they were if we got that backstory, but their characters were still amazing without it. Overall, this is a book you're going to want to read. Sofia and Burke had an epic love story that I know I will remember for the rest of my days. It may not have been a tear jerker type of emotional read, but it still affected me just as much. I hope it will affect everyone else just as much.ARC kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Sofia is back home in Eaves. Cape Cod.She and her dad were 'run out of town' when she was 17. Now she's 31 and back to stay. Her aunt just died and left her a huge dog and her erotic novelty boutique. Also back in town is Burke. The only boy she ever loved. He was her best friend and they both cried on each other's shoulders a lot back then. Sofie cried about her health - she had a very bad heart condition. And Burke cried about his life, his addictions, his dad....Can the two of them have a new start? A new love in this new life? A second chance? What will happen to Sofia & Burke? Will there be a HEA?Or will there be a horrible Cliffy???I'm not telling you that of course! No Cliffy - the 2nd book is about Joss, but I'm sure we'll hear lots about Sofia & Burke too. ☺═════════════════════════════════I really enjoyed this story! It was a tiny bit too much. A bit too wordy. Too many redundant, too 'flowery' decriptions of things. About the weather and the town and places and whatnot. Fingers of fading sunlight now bled into the swirling blue-and-lavender horizon. The beautiful wash of red and gold and violet lounged over the sloping hills and a curtain of tangled trees.I think with 50 pages of less description the book would've been perfect. Also, while I loved all the supporting cast, like Bautista, it was a bit too much about them. It was supposed to be Burke's and Sofia's love story, but we hear too much about too many people - maybe all friends and family in this town could've gotten their own book instead of being squeezed into this one. And now that I've finished the book I know that the 2nd book will be about Joss ... Maybe a tiiiny little bit less about everybody else in this first book would have been better. Sofia and Burke got lost a bit with so many people in the book.BUT - now that I'm done reading, I don't even know anymore why it bothered me while reading. Now I'm happy to know so much about everyone else. ☺Back to the story - and what I loved about it.We have two amazingly unperfect main characters. Sofia and Burke. Both have been through sooo much in their lives and now here's their shot at a second chance...But of course it's not all that easy.So much time has passed. So many secrets and truths and feelings and fears... it will take Burke and Sofia a while to work through everything ...but maybe they'll get their Happily Ever After this time around! But even if they'll get their HEA - there's still her health and his addiction. We're constantly afraid that something bad will happen.... But you can't stop living. You have to enjoy life - no matter how many days you have left!MEANT TO BE MINE was a beautiful Cape Cod romance! About coming home again and finally getting a second chance at life and love ♥And now Joss's story ASAP please!!!!!!!!!!

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Sofia hasn't been back to Eaves ever since her father moved them away but it’s never been far from her heart. Leaving behind her Aunt Luz and bestfriend Burke was hard but with her heart transplant issues, she felt it needed to be done.Burke had a turbulent home life and turned to drugs and alcohol but Sofia made him want to be better. When she left, he went into a downward spiral but eventual managed to get himself clean. When Sofia comes back to town, old feelings that were never really buried come back to the forefront. The first in a new series, Meant to Be Mine, focuses on Sofia. In a little bit of a women's fiction feel we get more about her dealing with all aspects of her life than a straight romantic relationship building with Burke. There aren't a lot of flashbacks to them and their highschool days but they discuss their highschool relationship to give the reader a good feel for it. With Sofia's heart issues, she eventual ends up getting a heart transplant, and her mother leaving her, father resenting her and being in jail for awhile and Burke's father blaming him for his mother's death and abusing him, it definitely showed how they were too young to process everything, including their feelings for one another. They were each other's rock in highschool but when Sofia does her best to push Burke away and then leaves town, they don't speak for many years. The beginning of the story had a pretty rough and disjointed start, which I, unfortunately, felt last throughout the story. There is more than one pov and the secondary characters that consisted of Sofia's friend and townspeople, are obviously being set up for their own books. The secondary characters had interesting stories and who they are going to be paired up with made them enticing but the way they were inserted into the story made it feel off kilter. It also felt as if the author was trying to hit every single popular trend, motorcycle club guy, lumberjack looking guy, secret parental abuse, and the list goes on, there was even a mention of a Navy SEAL who I imagine will eventual make an appearance. Our two lead characters had extensive background stories on their own but then add in the secondary characters' drama and the story ended up feeling extremely overstuffed.  With so much going on, I never felt like I got to connect with Sofia and Burke, and with them already knowing and basically falling in love with each other in highschool, there wasn't a lot of building blocks to their relationship. They're hot for each other, they make-out, and they say hurtful things to one another, and rinse and repeat for 90% of the story, when we do get to see them together. Although, I did like how Burke's addiction and recovery from alcohol and drugs was shown to be a lifetime battle and not a mere mention that he just decided to get clean one day, it provided a realism and depth to the character.  Overall, this story was a bit too schizophrenic for me and the structure felt disordered. If you're looking for less of a focus on a single romantic relationship and wanting to invest in more than one couple, then this series looks like it has a few set-ups for you.

**Meant to be Mine generously provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.**3 "You trust me?" StarsLisa Marie Perry kicks off her Guilty Pleasures series with a lovely second chance romance between Sofia and Burke. Written in the third person POV Perry takes us to a picturesque setting in Massachusetts where Sofia is thrust back into a town she fled so long ago. The passing of her Aunt and a face-to-face meeting with Burke send her life on a path of major change and self discovery. The writing and structure of the story were good. There were transitions in the book that left me a little confused. And the overall romance between Burke and Sofia didn't connect with me phenomenally but I understood and appreciated their passions and vulnerabilities. Their past played a very intriguing role in the story and how the development of their relationship then played so heavily on each of their lives. Each and every character, though, and their backgrounds and seemingly blunt reactions opinions was pleasurable to read. Even the clouds of illustrious demons lurking around each of them played very nicely into the story. The authors depictions of setting and circumstance were also good. Meant to Be Mine read quickly for me for the most part. And I rather enjoyed the story. There were times of laughter and happiness that made me smile huge. One character in particular really caught my eye and I hope they get their own story. I look forward to more from this author and would recommend this book as a great summer beach romance.

Favorite Quotes:Survive or get licked. Burke wasn’t that boy anymore, though. He was a man who kissed like a savage and talked like the devil, and now the memory seemed artificial somehow. This is New York. It’s your second chance, Sofia. And you know what? That’s what makes it the most beautiful thing about you.He was a looker, and his startled - What kind of Narnia did I walk into? - expression was charming. I hate regret. It feels like a stain I can’t wash off, like a tattoo. My Review:I loved this heart squeezing and unusual story of a second chance romance for childhood neighbors/friends, who never actually had a first romance. It was a compelling and engaging story, and I did not want to put my kindle down once I started - which caused considerable consternation since the book was 400 pages long. I found it highly unusual to be so frustrated and annoyed with most of the main characters while still enthralled with the story and loving the writing, but that happened most of the way though Meant To Be Mine. Lisa Marie Perry has mad skills! This was my first time reading her work but I now plan to add her entire listing to my TBR.The story was highly emotive, evolved slowly, and was multi-layered and complicated. The characters were fascinating and deeply flawed - and although I found them frustrating, I also found them endearing. Sophia and Burke had been apart for fourteen years yet still cared deeply about and for each other. Face to face - they were toxic, cynical, and cold while retaining so many painful secrets that hurt themselves as well as each other. Sophia had been a chronically ill child with no friends due to being an obnoxious tattletale. She had returned to her hometown after fourteen years upon inheriting her aunt's estate. Burke was a recovered addict and worried Sophia would be a risk to his hard-fought sobriety. While there was little actual sex occurring, the story sizzled with sensuality. The writing was stellar, emotive, moody, clever, occasionally humorous, insightful, and highly observant. I will be eagerly awaiting the next book in this series, which features Sophie’s business partner/best friend Joss.

Hotness Rating 2 out of 5I'm new to Lisa Marie Perry, so when I saw this book I decided to read it based on the description alone. I'm so glad I did. Miss Perry you have a new fan. One of the things I liked best about this book is that it snuck up on you. So many books these days just suck the emotions right out of you leaving you drained and not necessarily in a happy place when you reach the end. There were tons of feels in Meant to Be Mine, but they were subtle feels that just made you sit back and sigh.Sofia Mercer was a really likeable protagonist. She was a strong woman who had been through a lot. It may have dinged her up a bit, but she didn't let it break her. Coming back to the town that didn't exactly hold warm and fuzzy feelings was not on her list of fun things to do, but her aunt had passed and Sofia wanted to pay her respects. Her plans to get in and out as quick as possible was thwarted when Sofia finds out that she is now the owner of her aunt's possessions. Burke Wolf was the perfect contemporary romance hero. He grew up rough and had tons of bumps in the road, but it made him the amazing man that he is today. I loved that Burke was strong even when he thought he had nothing left. He worried that Sofia being back home would make him turn back to his addictions. But, his strength prevailed.Burke and Sofia were a great couple to read. Even though there was little sex in this book the chemistry sizzled and the sexual tension was off the charts. The secondary characters practically made the story. With such an interesting mix of people the humor came natural, the bonds were made and it just made me feel all the more invested over all. I can't wait to read more of this series. This book was generously provided in exchange for my honest review.

Lisa Marie Perry has written yet another enjoyable, sensual romance with plenty of spunk. Sofia has come back to her small town, where her greatest challenges were lived and her greatest love still resides, to say goodbye to her great aunt. She finds out that Aunt Luz left everything to her in the will including her profitable sex shop and apartment. But coming back home has meant so much more than just saying goodbye to Aunt Luz. Sofia has to deal with Burke Wolf, with whom she had a love-hate-lifesaving relationship with all those years ago as teenagers in high school. This is a beautiful second chance, small town, delicious romance filled with many distinctive and interesting characters, most of them damaged or flawed in some way. That’s one of the things I like about Perry’s writing – characters not based on ‘the perfect woman or man.’ Characters who have overcome great odds to be where they are and have the courage to overcome even more to find the love and life they deserve.

Sofia wanted to make her own life, which is exactly what she’s done in New York. She was a sick teenager and even though her health is still fragile she wants to experience every good thing that comes her way. When a sad situation, the death of her great-aunt Luz, brings her back to her childhood hometown Eaves she isn’t planning to stay. Her great-aunt had other plans though and made Sofia the sole beneficiary of her will. Sofia now has a sex shop, an apartment, a dog and several solid investments. She leaves her best friend Joss behind in New York and starts over.Being in Eaves means that Sofia runs into Burke, the guy she used to love with all her heart. There’s still something between them, but Burke doesn’t want to commit to anyone. He’s a changed man and he worked hard to get where he is now. Sofia is still the same special girl he used to love, but that doesn’t mean he will jeopardize his future for her. Burke doesn’t handle feelings very well and he keeps pulling back. He once was Sofia’s whole world, is it wise for her to let him in again while he can easily shatter her fragile heart?Meant to Be Mine is a fantastic story about love, loss, acceptance and dreams. I immediately loved this book because of Lisa Marie Perry’s fabulous tone of voice. Her writing is honest and sometimes a little crude, which suits the story really well. Sofia’s great-aunt Luz was quite a character and it seems like Sofia is cut from the same cloth. They are strong and independent women and they fight for what they believe in. I loved that spirit and passion and Lisa Marie Perry uses it as a solid basis for a great story. The sex shop is the perfect setting for women who know what they want, it’s a fun place that I loved reading about. There’s so much tension between Sofia and Burke that it’s always almost too much, which makes their relationship incredibly intriguing. Their interaction is never predictable and Lisa Marie Perry managed to surprise me plenty of times. Her descriptions of their connection are vivid and I could easily picture them together in both the past and the present. It’s obvious they have a magical bond, but it’s one that isn’t easy, which makes fascinating reading. I couldn’t put the book down because of this and read it in one sitting.Lisa Marie Perry writes about serious topics with respect. She doesn’t sugarcoat things and I liked that truthfulness. Life isn’t easy and she doesn’t spare her main characters. They’ve been through a lot in the past and their futures aren’t filled with happiness alone. I loved that she uses the depth she creates with this direct approach to make the story even more romantic. I think Meant to Be Mine is a brilliant love story and I highly recommend this beautiful novel.

***ARC Provided by the Publisher and NetGalley***I liked this overall. It is a small town romance, and par for the course in these, the town has it's quirky characters. Most of them add depth to the story, but I thought a couple of them detracted from it, and added a melancholy edge to it that I would have preferred was not present, as I think it took away from the central romance of Sofia and Burke.I also had a couple of issues with the pacing of the story, as I thought it moved well in some places but suffered a little bit in the past in others. I thought, at least for me, if you are not going to meet a character until her funeral, then there needed to be a little less time spent on how others felt about her, aside from the central character.Sofia and Burke were interesting, and their relationship was compelling...although more of a slow burn than I was expecting. While this is not a bad thing, I felt that the time to get them together possibly didn't give them enough time to deal with the realities of Sofia's health. If that makes sense...they needed, for me, more foundation before I was totally willing to believe in them as a HEA.That said, the writing is strong and the characters are mostly believeable. I am interested to see where the next one in the series leads.***This and other reviews also featured on “I’m A Sweet and Sassy Book Whore” http://www.imasweetandsassybookwhore.com***

Meant to be Mine by Lisa Marie Perry is a beautiful tale of second chances, forgiveness, and strength. A well-written story with complex characters and an intriguing storyline I very much enjoyed reading. Sofia Mercer didn’t have an easy life. Abandoned by both her parents when she was young, she fled to New York city, leaving her home and everything familiar behind—her beloved great-aunt, Luz, and the boy she once loved. The day Luz died and left all her earthly possessions to her turns her life upside down. She was never meant to come back home, but fate had different plans for her. Yet, coming home to a place where she felt alienated from everyone before was not meant to be easy. But Sofia is a fighter through and through and won’t let anything stop her from getting what she wants.Burke Wolf has been through hell himself. With a horrible childhood and an addiction he can’t shake, Sofia was the only good thing in his life, but when she suddenly left, his downward spiral was just about unstoppable. Yet, he beat his demons and leads a life without any real connections, always on the move with no real roots anywhere. But when Sofia comes home to Eaves, Massachusetts, his life changes.Neither Sofia or Burke can fight the pull and chemistry sizzling between them. But unfortunately both of them have their own demons to overcome. But fighting for love, with everyone around them disapproving, might just be worth it. But can they put aside the fear driving them and give the love they share a chance before it’s too late? Both characters are strong, independent, and stubborn—so very stubborn. Yet, while the back and forth, and especially the running, was frustrating at times, I couldn’t put the book down. I was hooked from the beginning. This story is full of intriguing side characters who enrich the story immensely with their quirky attitude and secrets we get to unravel throughout the book, at least some of them. I wish we would have seen more of their past however, some of Burke’s story left me with more questions than not. There were some holes I would have loved to see filed, but I’m hoping we might get that in the next one, which I’ll definitely read.Overall I very much enjoyed Meant to be Mine. The love Sofia and Burke share is one that will overcome just about any obstacle life throws at them. And while it’s not a super angst-y read, the fact that their love is neither perfect nor came easy, made me enjoy it even more. If you are in need of a steamy read with many amazing characters, Meant to be Mine is definitely it for you. I know I can’t wait for the next one to be released. *ARC received in exchange for an honest review*

I am a complete sucker for a small town contemporary romance. Sometimes they just feel like a breath of fresh air and Meant To Be Mine did just that for me. The story wasn’t all easy going bubble gum but still left me with a light and happy heart. Sofia and Burke’s story both had hard childhoods and there was still a lot of pain to deal with. These two has great chemistry and their slow burn relationship really worked well for me.This novel had an eccentric cast of characters that you get to know very well and have set up the future books in the series to be just as good as this one. I will say there was almost too much of the other characters but I know she is setting up the other books in the series so for this one I can look past that. This was my first book by Lisa Marie Perry but I can tell you it won’t be my last. While waiting for the next book in the Guilty Pleasures series I will be working my way through her backlog happily.~ miranda

Josie's ReviewWhere do I start with writing this review? The whole time I was reading this book I kept saying these two characters have a really unusual and awkward relationship. This story had some really great moments. A virgin owning a sex store, a guilty pleasures bakery shop and girlfriends who open up about everything. Friends that laugh a lot, support each other and love to drink. I saw all myself and the girls our blog in these ladies and I just wanted more! Meant To Be Mine was as very emotional and dare I say at times an upsetting story. However, this book was written in a way that I couldn’t put it down. Sofia left the only home she knew promising never to come back. Until she’s has to. Sofia has had a rough start in life and the things that are revealed about this woman as a child broke me. The only place she felt love was with her Luz and a young boy named Burke. Having friends and finding someone who wants to be around was new to her and she relished it. But when she begins to feel more for Burke he breaks her heart. I just loved this character, she was so strong, positive and inquisitive. She never backed down and went through life with grace and laughter. She picks up her life in New York where she is starting a new business. When she runs into Burke again she accepts being his friend and what wasn’t between them. Until he opens his mouth. Burke was not your usual hero. He is described as gorgeous in the story but I saw ugly. Yeah it took me sometime to warm up to this one. I found him to be cruel, callous and condescending. He knew the reason Sophia had insecurities, heck he lived that part of her life with her but he still couldn’t stop being a douche. OK moving forward, what I did like about this character was how the author gradually showed us who he truly was and the reason for his actions. There is more to Burke than we get at first, a troubled man who only wants quick and easy. Sophia reminds him of all the good in life but also all the bad that was kept hidden.Sophia and Burke are just as explosive together as they are apart. They gravitate to one another whether it’s intentional or not. Their journey is a long one and volatile at times but also sweet. Burke tries so hard to stay clear of her but he just can’t. Sophia has a hard time pushing away from the man that owns her heart. I loved how slowly they both opened up to one another and explored. And that exploring was so HOT! Like melt your panties and get a drink hot and that wasn’t even sex. When these two finally get to that place, its fireworks! This is a love story about two sweet people with an ugly past. Burke and Sophia have a complicated and messy relationships with the past, present and future making it harder but yet they share a love so deep and intense. I can’t wait to read more of this series and see what else The Guilty Pleasures has to bring.

Sofia Mercer has been dealt a lot at her young age, but every negative thing she's been hit with she's taken in stride and found a way to overcome it. She prides herself on being a strong woman, one that can handle just about anything... but when she returns to her hometown to take care of her aunt's affairs after she passes, and comes face to face with the man who broke her heart years ago it rattles her to her core. She knows getting close to him again could be dangerous on her heart so she is determined to keep him at a arms length, but after one earth shattering kiss she is left questioning everything. And left with an desire she never anticipated... to stay!Burke Wolf is a man with many demons, one of those being letting the woman he loved go years ago, and he's never been able to move past that mistake, it haunts him all the time. So, learning she is making the trip home to handle her aunt's affairs is music to his ears, it means there's a slim chance he can find a way back into her life again... and possibly back into her heart. Problem is the last time he had that chance with her it crashed and burned, and left them both wounded beyond repair... The moment I picked up this book and flipped to the first page I felt an addiction settle over me, one that I knew wasn't going to let go anytime soon... not until I had devoured every last delectable page. From the very first chapter I found myself being ingrained in these characters lives, dangling helplessly from every uttered word, feeling the emotion intended behind every one, and feeling the impression of pain and suffering as if I were experiencing first hand. This story completely blew me away, just when I thought I could see where things were going I was hit with another level of feeling that hit me deep, and changed my way of thinking. This is a love story, but its also a story of redemption, forgiveness, hope, and gives you a very accurate perception of how messy true, honest, love can be... and I loved every damn minute of it!! It's one of those stories that sneaks up on you, and knocks your world off it's axis, and when it's done your left there sitting saying WOW!! This is my first experience with Ms. Perry's work, and I have to say this is by far one of the most impressive first reads I have ever had the pleasure of reading... she got me good!... and instantly turned me into a lifelong fan!!ARC given by the publisher in exchange for a honest and unbiased review.

Lisa Marie Perry is a new author to me and Meant to Be Mine is the first book in what looks like an amazing series that is to come. Sofia is back in the small town she grew up in only to attend her Aunts funeral and after that she has every plan to go back home. There is just one little problem, her Aunt has left her everything. On top of having her Aunts possessions that she has to figure out what to do with she runs into her old friend Burke, and how they left things before Sofia left is all about to come out on top of all the feelings they have been holding back. The writing was clear, fun and I really enjoyed this story. The plot was different and kept me wanting to know what else was going to happy and how Sofia would repair her friendship with Burke. This story was a little on the emotional side but not the type of story to bring you to tears. It was more of a sexy fun story that was filled with a few twists and turns along the way. I also enjoyed the characters until the very end. Perry wrote them with such passion that even when they were arguing you could feel the spark between them. It was only a matter of time before they ended up together and believe me I was counting down the minutes. I loved how Burke would worry about Sofia after everything she had been through. He really stepped it up by not only being her friend but by showing her how much he did in fact love her now and then. The secondary characters also did some standing out in Meant to Be Mine. We meet whole community that comes together to help one of their own. At first I didn’t understand why Sofia had never came back but once she started to open up I could see and understand her reasoning. Now that she is back it’s like she never left. Not only is she reconnected with new friends but also making new ones. Is this a series I will keep up with? Yes, and already I am impatiently waiting for book to arrive on shelves. Perry brought this story to life and breathed in fresh air in the contemporary romance world. Are you looking for a story that is sexy and fun? Pick up Meant to Be Mine and get to know Burke and Sofia from the beginning.

“This is your second chance. The choice here is real easy. You can waste your second chance on a fairy tale or grow the hell up.”“She was everything. Redemption, forgiveness, love. Everything he needed but wouldn’t dare ask for.”Meant to Be Mine is a quick and easy read. It is well written and is a nice second chance romance. I thought the characters were a lot of fun, especially Sofia and Joss. I loved Sofia’s innocence and loved watching her step out of her norm and live her life. Joss was an amazing friend and she made me laugh quite a bit. I’d love to see more of her in the future.Overall, this book was just ok for me. I adored Sofia. I felt bad for her because she had been through so much and experienced a lot of pain in her life. I admired her ability to return home and take on a new path in life despite the obstacles in her way. Burke frustrated me a lot. He was a complicated man with demons that still haunted him despite all the time that had passed. I didn’t really like how he was with Sofia. He frustrated me because he was constantly pushing Sofia away. I felt like his actions didn’t make a lot of sense and that he led her on a lot of the time. I didn’t really understand the connection/pull between the two of them. I understand and get that were friends when they were younger and that Sofia had always been in love with Burke. But, it just wasn’t working for me. It didn’t feel real. Yes, Burke and Sofia did have some chemistry and the few sexy times they shared were pretty steamy. But, I wanted more of a connection between them. I wanted to see what drew Sofia to Burke and why he was worth pursuing.I think Meant to Be Mine is going to be one of those reads that is a hit for some and miss for others. For me, I thought it was ok. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it either. I enjoyed the characters and the story-line. I think this series has a lot of potential, so I’d be open to reading more from this author in the future.*I was provided an ARC copy of this book, via Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review*

Slick's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book ReviewsI have a confession to make, I requested Lisa Marie Perry's Meant to be Mine because of its tag line ""A Guilty Pleasures Novel." I mean come on, how could I not? Ms. Perry is a new to me author and I have to say that I really enjoyed this book even though it had a bit more angst than I usually like; the plot was carefully crafted and complex, the characters well developed and engaging, but most of all I appreciated that the love story between these two wasn't easy. When Sofia Mercer returns to the small town Cape Cod town she grew up in for the funeral of her dear aunt who was more of a mother to her she has no idea her life will be changed forever. Not only does she inherit her aunt's estate, she inherits her aunt's dog, her aunt's grieving fiancé/lawyer and to top it off she runs into Burke Wolf, the boy (now man) that stole her young broken heart and the boy she left behind when she moved to the city to get that heart fixed. This book was heaped with emotion and at times I wanted to knock some sense into both Sofia and Burke, but considering their background, what they knew and didn't know about one another, and everything they were dealing with now as adults I could also understand their reservations, their miscommunications, and both of them running scared. Despite that, if ever two people belonged together it was these two; they just had to work really hard to get there. While there was no doubt this was a love story between Sofia and Wolf this book was filled with crazy, wonderful, intense and interesting characters who all added so much to this story and who all helped them find their way to one another. A great start to a new series, Meant to be Mine set the bar high for any future books to come in this series.Review copy provided for an honest re

~~http://melenasreviews.wordpress.com~~Lisa Marie Perry has done it again with a story about learning to live again but also how to love again wth Sofia and Burke. Two people who struggled to be loved yet feel they were short changed. I felt for Sofia for going through what she went through alone is tough then there is Burke who was in so many ways her symbol to live. These two are so much alike yet feel they are worlds apart. This is more than just Sofia and Burke for we see how hard they struggled to have a life no one thought they would have. Meant to be Mine is definitely titled right for Lisa Marie Perry created two characters that are complete in so many ways it is hard to imagine them separated at all. They have a unique bond and love that you can tell has never disappeared but has grown stronger than ever.

You couldn't help but love Burke, so caring and giving, “some folks call it foreplay. I call it getting the most out of the moment. I want you to feel good when you’re with me, Sofia .” He felt good, that was for friggin’ sure." I liked when Burke became a wild man, “crazy-hot sex. You know, we don’t have to wait for the house to go up.” Burke came around the table, pulled her chair out, and straddled her lap. “Choose, the laughing or fighting or crazy-hot sex.” I enjoyed this book, Sofia is a strong woman, and sticks up for herself.

This author is new to me and I was looking forward to reading this book, especially after buying some of her other books based on the reviews, but I'm feeling a bit disappointed because the book starts out very chaotic, in the sense that there is no flow in the sequence and the dialogue and I can't get a feel for who the main characters are. Even after hanging on past the 15% mark, it hasn't picked up for me, so I'm putting it on hold and will try again later.

***I received this book for free from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review, which was first posted on book blog Will Read for Feels. When I first learned about Lisa Marie Perry’s new Guilty Pleasures series, I was happy to give it a read, especially after checking out the blurb to Meant to Be Mine, book 1. I mean, it ticks off so many of the boxes in the list of things I like in a love story: small-town romance, second chances, complex characters, a struggle with medical issues, and a battle with personal demons. You might say I was predisposed to like this. What I didn’t expect is how much I would like this. Not just because of the elements listed above, but because of its sassiness and sweetness, pain and pleasure, love and loyalty, friendship and a furbaby—all of which was woven together with alternating threads of intensity and humor. Now, this is very much a character-driven story in that the entire plot line is charted by the two main characters’ journey to a headspace and heartspace in which they could be the people they needed to be and make the decisions they needed to make, both for themselves and each other.Burke Wolf is a drug addict who’s been clean for years, but he continues to struggle with his addiction and the inner demons that helped birth it in the first place. He’s not your typical arrogant alpha hero, although when it comes to protective streaks, this guy could win a prize. He’s loved Sofia Mercer since they were kids, but his crippling self-doubt and concerns about her health have him thinking she deserves someone else, someone better than him. Honestly, I was torn between wishing I could ogle his bod for real, wanting to hug him, and being tempted to thwack him over the head. Definitely a hero to keep you on your toes.Sofia Mercer has her own demons to fight, both emotional and physical. Emotional because she struggles with feelings of guilt and abandonment related to her family and upbringing, and physical because she has survived what would’ve been terminal heart disease if not for a transplant she had when she was 19, but just because she is better and stronger now, it doesn’t mean an end to her health woes. And because she has lived with illness all her life, she has a healthy dose of pride and a need to prove herself as something other than that poor sick girl everyone felt sorry for. I admired her strength and her YOLO attitude, but I also was pretty frustrated by her stubbornness at remaining insulated emotionally. All of the above should tell you why I enjoyed reading about how these characters sniped at each other, couldn’t keep their hands off each other, and not so much fell for each other as, having fallen, decided to grab on to the life and love they could have together. The fact that Sofia runs a sex shop in a small town just adds an element of fun and sauciness to the mix. Plus, Eaves, Massachusetts, sounds perfectly charming, and now I feel like I have to add the Cape Cod area to my growing list of places to check out the next time I’m in the US!Whether or not you’re a fan of small-town romances, I’d recommend giving Meant to Be Mine a read. It reminded me a little of Sarina Bowen’s True North series and a little of Nora Roberts’ Chesapeake Bay series, as far as the feels and ambiance went. But don’t get me wrong, just one book in, and this series has showcased a flavor all on its own, so I’m definitely keen on getting my hands on the next book, Yours to Take, which will be out summer next year.

Title: Meant To Be MineAuthor: Lisa Marie PerryPublisher: ForeverSeries: Guilty Pleasures # 1Reviewed By: Arlena DeanRating: FiveReview:"Meant To Be Mine" by Lisa Marie PerryMy Thoughts....This first series of Guilty Pleasures...."Meant To Be Mine" was a wonderful read with its beautiful setting in Eaves, Massachusetts. The story was a sweet contemporary romance story that featured Sofia Mercer and Burke Wolf who had been childhood friends. I found the story will start with Sofia being at her Aunt Luz's funeral that will take you to the end giving the reader quite a interesting story where there will be a lots of 'secrets of the past, feelings, fears along with some self discovery, redemption, forgiveness and love' that will come out. About The Story.....We find that Eaves wasn't a new place for Sofia for she had grew up there with her parents, Aunt Luz and her friend Burke. However, Sofia a been a sickly child that dealt with heart problems and suddenly she [at 17] and her father had moved leaving Eaves far behind [due to be run out of town]. Now, [at 31] she had lived in NY with her best friend Josie and it was after funeral Sofia learns that she was her Aunt's beneficiary getting [her Aunt's 'erotic novelty boutique' & her dog named Tish]and left with a decision to make in what to do .... live in NY or Eaves, Cape Cod? As the story continues Sofia has come into contact with her old friend Burke but were they still friends after what had happened in the end when she had left Eaves? This interesting and compelling story really keeps on moving and we learn a lots of what all had happened previously in this emotional story where truly Sofia and Burke had gone through quite a lot in their life as children there in Eaves. Be ready for a little bit of from laughter and happiness, fighting and even some 'crazy hot sex' that will be all in this captivating read. This author really knows how to keep the readers attention turning the pages as we will see howlove was so hard for these two people. Feeling the love that Burke had for Sofia was off the chart. Seeing how much he went through ....all of the pain...well I will stop here so I won't spoil it for you. It was indeed a good read of how we see the characters...Sofia, Burke along with [Caro, Joss, Bautista] to name a few secondary characters were able to come together and help each other when it was needed, being well portrayed and even believable giving the readers one heck of a good read. Will these two get a new start in life and love as their second chance comes together with all of its twist and turns after their past? You definitely have to pick up this heart warming novel... 'Meant To Be Mine' to see if these two Sofia and Burke will get their HEA? Would I recommend? I LOVED IT!I will be definitely looking to read the second book! This ARC was given by the publisher and NetGallery in exchange for a honest opinion of this read.

This book is the start of a new series by Lisa Marie Perry. This novel is mostly about Sofia and Burke. They have such a complicated back story, that starts to unravel when Sofia comes back to town for her Aunt's funeral. Let's start with Sofia, she is such a strong character yet she felt naive in certain areas. She has had so many battles when she was younger that she has learned to be strong for herself. The only positive she had while she was younger was her Aunt Luz. Sofia does seem to suffer from some PTSD from her surgery. Lisa did well on explaining panic attacks as someone who suffers from them it was the first time in a novel that they were explained well. I loved the run in that Burke and Sofia have in the beginning of the novel. I actually have a tab on the ice scene. I really enjoyed the flash backs of how Sofia's relationship with people was when she was younger as to where it stands now. It really helped in understanding why she thinks the way she does. On to Burke... he of course is very handsome. I picture him almost like a lumberjack. He seems to genuinely want to help Sofia. However whenever he helps her she seems to have a set back. Burke is carrying a burden of his own that he doesn't want Sofia to know. He would like nothing more than to go back out to sea and forget he ever saw her again. They seem thrown into each other's path at every turn. He can't escape the feelings he has for her. I really loved how he stepped up and helped her and her friends when needed, he didn't care what the rest of the town thought. a little snippet.."Everytime we try to be apart, you end up in my arms,"he said, standing and leaving the hall on her heels. "I'm saying this okay? I care about you so fucking much, and that's why I'm telling you when it comes to me, if you've got to choose all or nothing, let it be nothing" That took my heart right there and just broke it...Overall while this was an enjoyable read it was a bit long for me. I would've liked to have seen a little bit of the drama cut out of it. I get that most HEA's have some angst in them but I felt these two could've talked a lot sooner than playing high school games with one another. I did enjoy the book and I will probably try another Lisa Marie Perry book just to see how her writing style evolves with this series. I do have a question for Lisa though, how did you research the store products?? While I was reading certain parts about the store I was like how does she know this?? :D

This was a really great read with quite a bit of dirtiness involved that kept you interested. The main characters were very good at avoiding each other and emotions when necessary but you can so obviously see that they were literally meant to be with one another. You know the saying you complete me, I felt that between these characters. They helped to complete one another. I haven’t read anything from this author previously but I will definitely be checking out future books in this series. I just have to know what happens. We meet Sofia and Joss who are on their way back to a small town to Sofia’s aunt’s funeral. There Sofia runs into an old friend. The two of them had quite the relationship but without one another they were definitely lost. Years had passed since they last saw each other and many things have transpired since then, they were both troubled in one way or another as teens but as adults they still have some reservations about their relationships in life. It was interesting to watch Sofia grow more into herself and believe in her dreams and how she was able to make them happen. Burke on the other hand was very stubborn but he’s being held by a very thin line as he suffers from the worst kinds of addictions, but the resurrection of Sofia has bought him back to life in a better way. It’s adorable to see how much he truly cares for her, how much he’s scared for her and how much he truly loves her. Actions always speak louder than words and the two of them had quite the connection. It was electric and intensifying. The other characters in the book also were truly interesting as they too had their very own stories to tell so that’s definitely a reason for me to check out the rest of the series, because I definitely need to know what they are all about. I’m invested and I just need to know! Overall the author did a great job in explaining about all these characters, the hardships they endured throughout their lives, what they are still going through and what is yet to come. The writing was great and kept you absorbed in the story. The cover is also very interesting makes it look like a really great summer read, and it really is. It also seems sweet and endearing, add the title to that and you’ve got a winner. The bonus to the book were the naughty bits, and the naughty sweets. You’ll see what I mean when you pick up this book and read it from beginning to end.

Meant To Be Mine is my first book by Lisa Marie Perry . I was very excited about reading this book because I have heard such good things about her stories and the synopsis really drew me in and have you seen that cover ? Its is so pretty! ,so when I was able to get a early copy of Meant To Be Mine I was thrilled . I read It as soon as I possibly could and I thoroughly enjoyed It !. Meant To Be Mine is an excellent start to the Guilty Pleasure series .In this book we mainly follow Sofia and Burke . The best way I could describe them is that they are survivors, these two have been through so much when you get the back story on each of them you really feel for them and then on top of that they are both grieving the loss of someone who was so very important to both of them . If I could describe there romance in 3 words they would be intense , sexy and all consuming . In this book we get to see both Sofia and Burke heal and also fight there personal demons . There relationship is not all rainbows at the beginning because they have such a complicated history with each other, but as you see them become closer and you see there feelings for each other reignite you see that they are absolutely perfect for each other.I felt that Lisa Marie Perry did an excellent job writing this romance. I loved these two to together and I felt that they got a perfect ending I had the biggest smile on my face reading the ending of this story. This story just drew me in completely the setting , the plot , these character everything just comes together and creates such a fantastic story. Meant to be Mine was a sexy , heartwarming , emotional story . I cannot wait to see what Lisa Marie Perry has In store for the rest of the series .Lisa Marie Perry sets up so many things in this book Its almost like she is silently saying to the reader just wait till you find more about this person or situation in the next book lol . If you love all these things In your books I suggest you pick up a copy when It comes out August 30th ,2016.

I've been wanting to pick up one of Lisa Marie Perry's books for about a year now, but the timing always seemed to be off and I could never fit her new release into my schedule. This time... I made it fit! When Meant to Be Mine was offered to me, I jumped at the chance to finally pick up my first Perry romance. I have to say that, while I didn't love Meant to Be Mine, I did enjoy it. I felt that it got caught up in what I like to call "1st book in a series blues," where the author has to not only introduce the two main characters, but also has to give page time to some of the secondary characters that'll be featured in the next book(s). So while we meet Sofia and Burke, we also get to know Joss and Caro, who are the heroines in book 2 and 3. There are also multiple POV's and at times it felt like there were too many cooks in the kitchen when I really wanted more from Sofia and Burke. With all that said, let's focus on what I did like about Meant to Be Mine. I love the theme that connects the series together. This is quite the adventurous small town with a naughty boutique and other coming attractions. I loved that! I had could just picture the 4 girls spending time in the boutique, whether they're arranging the shelves or stocking their own collections. Their friendship is going to be fun to follow as the series moves along. As for Burke and Sofia, I really liked their rocky relationship. While it was raw and volatile at times, they found each other when it mattered the most. It's going to be a battle, but I can see them pulling through. Even with their limitations, they are still incredibly strong individuals. And together? There's nothing that'll stop them. While I do think it was a little too busy, I did still enjoy Meant to Be Mine. I look forward to see how the series progresses, especially with Joss. She's going to be a fun one to watch.I received a print arc copy in exchange for a honest review.

I was so thrilled to read Meant to Be Mine. The cover when I first saw it drew me right to it. Then when I read what it was about I knew I had to read it. I have to tell you that there is stuff that I enjoyed about this book and others that I didn't. The beginning of the book feels like you've been dropped into it. You'll feel a little lost. This happens for a while, at least the first half of the book. After a while the story does smooth out and you find it's grove. I enjoyed both Sofia & Burke, but felt this story is more about Sofia than their romance. Not that I didn't like her story but I'd like a little more romance. The romance was defiantly lacking in the story. Lately I've been reading more second chance romances, (something I'm usually not a fan of) and have been enjoying them so I went into this with the same thought. Still not sure how I feel about their second chance. This was a tough review for me. I always want to be honest for those who follow me, but I also hate saying only negative things about a book. I never feel like it can't be all bad, I always find something good. The parts I liked about the story was Sofia and her friend. You can tell right away how tight they are. I liked that part of the story. I also saw how the author was setting up some of the town people for their stories, which makes me want to read them. There is good and bad in this story for me. I think you liking it depends on what you want from your romance. If you want a story that mostly deals with the romance between the two main characters, then I'm not sure this is your story. But, if you want a story about a woman and the changes she makes in her life, including a new relationship then you'll like this story. Welcome to Eaves. A small town where everyone knows everybody else and keeping secrets is near impossible. The loyal residents stick up for one another but there are some who always find faults and hold grudges. Burke was a troubled student with a bad reputation. He is now reformed and dedicates his life to his work and keeping out of trouble but there are those who still sees him as "trouble" because of his no nonsense abrupt attitude. He attracts the ladies and has his fun but no intention of settling down. Sofia was a sick child who didn't have a normal upbringing. She wasn't popular with her fellow students but there was a bond between her and Burke. When she left town, she left him with a broken heart even if she was just as affected. She felt that it was for his own good. She is back to attend her aunt's funeral. Burke and Sofia, seeing each other again is inevitable. They are both guarded, not wanting to go through the horrific pain once again. The bond between them is still there but trust is now a big issue. They spend time together and always end up hurting each other. Burke has kept his childhood secrets to himself and Sofia has never told him the reasons why she left the way she did. Having inherited her aunt's business, Sofia decides to make a go of staying in town to carry on with the business. Burke and Sofia can't stay away from each other but they can't commit because they are afraid of rejection. The truth from both sides are revealed and the facts are heartbreaking.Burke and Sofia's journey is a myriad of emotions. It's painful just watching them go through the doubts and uncertainties which stop them from accepting their true feelings. It's a heartfelt and overwhelming storyline. It really pulled at my heartstrings and I became completely absorbed by the characters even though I felt that the focus was taken away from Burke and Sofia, in some places. I received an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
