Claws, Confessions Of A Cat Groomer Reviews
Just finished this great book, “CLAWS: Confessions of a Professional Cat Groomer,” by Anita Kelsey. Anita is a groomer and cat behaviorist from the UK who has many great stories of the feline clients she has had over the years, that includes some stories of her human clients as well. Her book details 20 of these encounters, most of which were funny and heartwarming, and a couple that tugged at my heart. The book contains many side-bars and call outs (the term we used when writing research reports when I worked in that industry) of how to properly and safely groom and care for your cat, and why cats behave the way they do. This is a great read for any cat parent, but particularly for someone who works in the industry at a vet’s office or as a groomer. While I read the first chapter in the evening before bed, I picked up the book the following morning and couldn’t put it down until I finished it. Great Read!-Shawn Flynn, Award-Winning Author of “THE KITTY Who Rescued Me After I Rescued Him”
A collection of sharp, funny short stories about Kelsey's work as a holistic cat groomer, Claws is a lighthearted and brilliant read. Throughout the pages, she is scratched, bitten and mauled by small cats while enduring it all with humour. At the end of each chapter there are also snippets of about why cats behave the way they do along with practical advice on understanding and looking after your kitty better to improve their wellbeing and homelife. A must for cat lovers.
I received my copy through Goodreads giveaways, thanks! My opinions are my own. This book was quite funny, but I can see how some who are unaccustomed to English humour may find it dry. Some of the stories are sad, some will make you angry, but most of them are quite comical. This may also simply be the opinion of a crazy cat lady.
I consider myself more of a dog lover but enjoyed the stories and photos of some cats and their owners. Enjoyable read and liked the way the author had footnotes at the end of each chapter as to why cats behave in a certain way and how their owners can make their grooming experience and homelife better.
An easy, enjoyable read—finished it in one sitting
