Claiming His Wedding Night Reviews
This was pretty good but not great. I liked Lee Wilkinson's descriptive writing. I felt like I was within the story, seeing everything in technicolor. I liked how I slowly saw more and more of Jared as a person. Although from the beginning, I could tell he was crazy about Perdita. I find a hero who is crazy in love a sure fire way to elevate a book to a higher level. Can't help it. It's my 'button'. In this case, this is the strong point of this book. Again, not that it's bad. I just felt that Perdita was a bit harder to identify with. I mean I can understand that she took a lot on faith from people who she thought were trustworthy, but she didn't listen to what her heart and gut was telling her about the man she loved, and she cost them three long years. That was like a pain in my gut. I hate wasted potential, you know? What I love is Jared still loved her so much, and waited for her. He could have moved on physically and emotionally, and who would blame him? But he doesn't. That makes me sigh. So, yeah, I was a bit annoyed at Perdita, and even more, the person who engineered the destruction of her brief marriage to Jared. I have to take points off for that. But Jared, oh my darling, I add points for you.So I end up with a 3.5/5.0 star book. *Sighs some more about Jared.*
This was ok. Another author who fails to bring any angst even with the potentially 'angsty' plot -line. The problems between this couple was settled amicably and without much drama. Too mellow for me. Two stars!
Good read,H/h met, fell in love, eloped and got married against everyone wishes but then villain set's up the H,creates misunderstanding and is successful in seperating them later the marriage was annulled fast forward 3 years now h is engaged to the villain but she needs H's help,he strikes up the deal,h comes to come the marriage was never annulled, she comes to know she was wrong cause of her mistrust they lost 3 years, she regrets it,the love is still there but both think one of them has fallen out of love, the misunderstanding is cleared and they get their HEA.
Don't like the fact that heroine moved on and was about to marry another man.
The heroine Perdita is trying hard to keep her families business running, but is shocked to discover her last chance means she will have to negotiate with Jared, the hero and her ex-husband. Perdita and Jared had a very passionate whirlwind relationship a few years back and she had married Jared despite disapproval from her family. After they were married Perdita was called back when her father was taken ill, and when she came back to Jared she found another woman in his bed. Perdita had fled heartbroken and later sent him divorce papers wanting to move on with her life.Jared informs her that he never signed the divorce papers, therefore they are still married. Hoping to be able to convince Jared into helping save the company as well as getting him to agree to a divorce she goes with him to his home. It's clear that the passion between them has never died, but Perdita has never been able to get over her heartbreak at Jared's betrayal and promises never to trust him again. What I enjoyed about this book is the relative simplicity of the plot. The plot is a traditional and well used one, but this is a solidly written book with a nice pace. The relationship between the hero and heroine feels very natural and it the gradualness of it is satisfying to read. There is nothing really bad to be said about this book; it is simply a nice, quick, and easy read.Originally posted at http://everyday-is-the-same.blogspot....
I hated Perdita so, so, so much. I don't care for the cruel alpha male that accuses and won't listen to the usually spineless and TSTL heroine, but this lower case h is just as bad. She sees something shocking and leaves the husband she's been lusting after in the cold; lets him get beaten up; ignores his repeated phone calls and pleas for her to listen. Ugh. her father is just as bad with his assumptions about the hero's character. Boy howdie, he deserved a better girl. The hero on the other hand has a few mean boy moments, but if you love a besotted hero that pines then this is the guy for you.Re-read my review. Why two stars? Good hero. He deserves someone much better. Someone like me.
