The title of this mystery novel will have many readers nodding in empathetic understanding. When a family's survival is undermined by a reduction in pay, can murder be far behind? In most cases, no, but that wouldn't make much of a murder mystery. In Downsized to Death, nasty is apparently part of the job description for one woman who thrives on control. This makes her very easy to dislike. The author has given her main characters strong traits and the plot moves forward in unpredictable directions to hold my interest.

An intriguing mystery with an original hook that I haven't seen in any other novels - that of a travel agency. The setting is realistic and the book has a likable main character in Prudence. Anyone who has dealt with company layoffs and reshuffling will identify with the downsizing aspect of the novel. A great read. I'll look for more from this author.
